iPhoto question

If I import the photos on my desktop to iPhoto they stay on my desktop.

My question is if I move the items on the desktop to the trash will it delete them from iPhoto?

I know this may sound silly but I really don't know.

Moving them into iPhoto COPIES them. You are free to delete the originals from your desktop.
