What good programs are there? I have an electric acoustic but my amplifier went out. I would need an AMAZING sound recoding program. I would want to have reverb option in the program. So I can play some good ole give you goosebumbps Skynard.

Any body know of any AMAZING sound recording and manipulation programs.

Desperate need.

First wipe windows, install a good linux distro(not ubuntu), then install Jack tools, Audacity, and LMMS.
wipe eleven times at first, then wipe it a few more random times. DOD requires 7, but I like eleven (Spinal tap)

I like Goldwave myself, its not free (you can use it for free but it needs to be restarted every 150 commands, and totally locks up after a couple of thousand) but it supports vst plugins in addition to its native effects, and there are many of those available free. There is also wavosaur which is free, and also supports vst's but its not as easy to use as Goldwave.

If you want to arrange your music properly then I suggest something like Ableton Live, Sony Acid (theres a free version on the acid planet site), or one of the many other DAWs.

Hey man.
I use a few different ones myself, but one of the absolute best for quality and options is Avid Pro Tools 11. It's probably the program I use the most. They even have some special software and tools for guitar players.
Avid Guitar

If you want a more simple and basic interface yet still some decent recording software, check out Adobe Audition. I used that for many years.

Hope that helps.

Sorry I did not clarify my reply. I suggested wiping the disc a few random times, because the process can be reversed. As far as connecting the computer to the amp; Radioshack has the cable, or you could just make a connector. If you would like I can post pictures for you ?

I use guitar rig 3 and just plug my guitar into the mic-in. It takes a little bit of fidgy widgy to get asio4all working if you have multiple inputs/outputs, connecting the right ones.

But the sounds from that program surpass any other I've used.

the sound can be a little dirty unless you send a decent amped signal in, which i dont, but if you have any oither sort of amp you can feed that in for a cleaner sound.

Not free. But.. well.. I'm not making money from it, I'm not doing anything but playing for myself, so I bypass those issues.

if I could actually play that would be a different story

If that's what you are meaning? I can't imagine using something like audacity for it, it's an audio editing application as far as I'm aware... bit like plugging a webcam into photoshop..

guitar rig has built in virtual tape decks, you can record input and output, so clean and effected. A billion effects pedals, amps, rigs, controlls, filters, pre-set templates, genres (rock, metal, classic, clean, etc) and if you have the foot pedal set up you can control it from there.

I'll never ask you to install software on my pc.

Just asking for software, you're telling him to go forensic on his PC and insall a hard to use operating system that will be more grief than pleasure for someone just wanting to plug in his guitar.

"How can I get to that diner on route 66?"
"First, sell your hyundai. Then buy a holden, rip out the seats and stereo, put in some relicing chairs, and a walkman. Connect the walkman to some speakers and glue them to the roof. Tilt the chairs at 45 degrees because they won't fit in the upright position, or you can saw the tops off them, and place pillows around your back. Remove the window winders, and use pliers. The more control over the windows you have, the better. I've found window levers can break. Then you can turn the ignition on."

Personally? I take my Stratocaster>Cry Baby Waw-wah pedal>Digitech Multi-FX pedal>Marshall or Vox guitar
Marshlall or Vox amp>Berhinger 16 channel mixing board
(no way to HEAR anything yet...but we go either into a line out from the mixer>or mixer into an amp-or of course headphones like in the studio.

I also play keys and those go into>Mixer>out to amp, stereo home system, speakers..or studio wise-headphones.

I think youre wanting to hear yourself without realizing that headphones would be your single best option. And if you want...you can still go out of the guitar system and keys system to just about anywhere.

And as far as FX you say it would need to have, Im sure you may not understand that all of that is built into your recording software. Literally hundreds of fx and settings combos.

My strat and wah pedal goes into my Digitech pedal and right there I can choose any amp sound, and delay, echo, compression sound, eq-you name it. And THAT hits the amp next that also has-built in fx, amp and mic sounds, delays, special guitar sounds...you name it!!
And that all goes into the mixer which has..yep..all of the above as well to combine with the OTHERS.

As to your which software to use question alone...one can always adapt right into the mic jack on your laptop and either go out again something like a pa system you or your group has, or simply just into headphones so you can rock the night away...and nobody can hear you.

The possibilities are endless...good luck to you!

That's one funny cat, hilarious
sorry I've developed an unnatural hatred for windows, and find myself installing Linux on everything, its free..
You should be able to run most of that software on windows&OSX
Jack's real-time;

jackaudio.org...
sourceforge.net...
audacity.sourceforge.net...

No actually thinking more of Elecrtric Guitar Wave Forms, and its Key vibrational effects, on the human soul.

That is what I am going to be doing. Might as well put those $200+headphones to good use you know. I want some of them $2900 headphones. Only way that happens if when I win another 20k at the casinos. Just a matter of time.

lol. I tune by ear with natural human vibrations. Every string will provide a vibrational frequency on what ever open note you put it on. I wont pick unless ever string vibrates my body in some way. That is mainly why I want to really get an amp for it but till I win big at the blackjack table again oh well.

In the late 80's. I was experimenting as well with synth wave forms and chordal harmonies for meditation.

Discovered pleasant sounds with majors, dark, evil forboding (like in horror flicks) sounds with minors, and "love story-type (for lack of any other description) with major 7ths...and of course-bluesy-sold-my-soul-to-the-devil sounds with 7th's, Quite interesting in the long run.

In the end, I was working on colors representing certain sounds-keys-moods. One could "hear" reds or blues, or yellows etc.

I wanted to experiment further with those "color-organs-party-lights" that flash to the music. I had a theory that say all ten fingers on my synth...would produce a variety of color combinations.

Would have been quite colorful with the huge number of notes, harmonies...both chordant and dis-cordant...say with symphonic music.
