Government orders have to be fulfilled before the end of the fiscal year. Which means they have to be ordered even earlier. Ammunition shortages abound due to hoarding and preppers, plus two active warfronts means big orders, early, before any possible budget cuts can happen.

More people are looking, with better technology. The technology and information access to the average person, plus a general heightened awareness does not mean a numerically larger number are occurring. The Meteorological Society has archives of data that show no dramatic increase in meteorite trends.

It's good to be on top of what's going on, but it's also good to maintain a healthy dose of skepticism, for both the "official" reasoning and "alternate" reasons.

That, and it's October 1st. Planet is still here. Planet is still spinning. The United States is still here, technically. Rest of the world is still here. We've got a few more days for the various climaxes/predictions/prophecies of 2013 to happen though.

Either way though, as always, I'm skeptical to both ends of the spectrum, so I try to be as prepared as best I can; and in the end I'm with you - I'd rather be on top of what's going on, just in case...

Religion interests me slightly less than politics. History does interest me though and direct records of the times would be quite fascinating. Earth shaking, I doubt. Except to the reputation of the Church that is.
