FY14 Shutdown - I Think The Liberals Will Ultimately Lose

The simple reason: The liberals need tax dollars to spend a whole lot more than conservatives.

It's A Crap Sandwich … I'd like to ask everyone who has lost their job, had their hours cut, seen an increase in their taxes (but no increase in pay) … how's that taste? Where's the money for Obamarama Care going to come from? They just cut your work week by 11 hours. Where are you going to get the money to pay more for what you weren't paying for to begin with. Consider the sheer numbers of low wage earners who are being dumped directly into this 'insurance system' since their employers are now providing zero for that previous benefit. And then there's the general mood here on ATS which would indicate another subtle truth to the subject line of this topic.

Albert Einstein said that insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. The voice of the Tea Party is being heard, and the 'change' Obamarama promised is about to come absent his hands guiding the wheel. Blame was the tool of fear used against Ted Cruz ... and it didn't work.

I see what you are saying but, if you mean what I think you mean, that implementing Obamacare will be delayed, I think Obama, the Democrats and the Republicans would love that. It plays right into their hands.

Liberals spend more than Conservatives? Ummm.....no. That is false.

In fact, with only a very few exceptions, I'd say there are no conservatives to be found in office.

But this entire issue is nothing more than theater from both sides. The Left tries to appear like they care about people and their healthcare.....so they stand-up for Obamacare. But fail to realize that it is going to cost a ton of money, tons of jobs and it is only welfare for the corporate insurance companies.

The Right pretends to care about fiscal responsibility ....yet they spend like crazy when it fits their interests and use Obamacare as the scapegoat to play partisan politics.

I'll bet they will come up with some last-minute deal to avoid a shutdown, like they do EVERY time the continuing resolution comes up for renewal. Both sides will claim victory and we will continue down our road to destruction.

I really wish people would get over their 'blaming everything on the libtards' mentality. This is a problem that goes far deeper than which side of the aisle the corporate-controlled sellouts are on.

Please tell me which side is spending billions (trillions?) on 'defense', AKA bombing innocent people and invading sovereign countries, and which side is responsible for the missing trillions in deep black projects that are not answerable to anyone, and THEN we'll know 'who's spending all our tax dollars'.

Because there's plenty of money for health care for everyone, they've just blown it on what I stated above, and bailing out the utterly corrupt banks.

That is probably one of the most accurate and blunt truths to be spoken on current matters. I also don't see many Democrats as I knew the term for the majority of my life. I see extreme righties I wouldn't stand next to on a street corner to protest the best cause....and I see extreme lefties I'd stand on the street corner with ...to shove 'em into traffic at the first unguarded moment.

I don't see Conservatives and I don't see traditional American Liberals. I don't know what we see now.....but it sure isn't what existed not that long ago.

I agree that happened and worse ... but ... the Dems need to spend, and spend hard to keep their agenda afloat. Where's the money going to come from. Think of this like a game of chess: If you keep reacting to the other player's moves, you're probably going to lose. The trick is to see a few moves ahead in the current situation.

People talk as though they are completely unaware that Democrat and Republican are two heads of the same Hydra. Red+blue=purple. Together, they form the twin heads of the monarchy that still grips our nation by the gonads. They don't trust the common public with the security and prosperity of the future. They only trust themselves. Why do you think all the money stays with them? All of the power and wealth and connections are theirs to use? Because they have elected themselves to guard the guards - without our knowledge or consent.

Those are the thoughts I see behind many of the conversations on this site (and I see your tongue in your cheek on the traffic thing). They way you and SS articulate the truth is to be envied.

I was careful to use the word liberals -vs- Democrats, and I avoided the words socialist/communist so as not to harshly offend anyone. Shame on me for not calling a spade a spade. The Republicans people refer to as RINOs fall into my definition of liberal. I don't know that it's fair for me to define the Tea Party as strictly conservative ... maybe just less ideologically motivated and more about getting the job done fair and square.

The word "blame" keeps coming out in responses to this post. I'm not suggesting blame was necessary for anything other than its use as a tool against Ted Cruz. Cruz has an agenda, of that there is no doubt. But, he 'used' principal instead of politics to fight his fight ... not fear. I know he's setting up a run for the Presidency, but I think he's fulfilling my expectations as a senator in everything he's done since being elected, unlike Rubio.

Cheers ... and thank you for your thoughtful participation!!

You know, the label thing is getting to be a problem. It really is. I find myself having to hunt for the precise terms and words to use..and this is silly isn't it? We all know what the other means. We know what we're talking about ...and I don't know anyone who would mistake Nancy Pelosi or John Boehner for any average Democrat or Republican in normal definitions. We still have a whole class of Gotcha people running around tho...all over the net and media for that matter. If the terms aren't precise, exactly and accurate? Well.. someone gets offended, like you say, and a 6000 character OP with the best argument man has ever seen....will be wasted over that one boo-boo of terms.

Crrrrrazy isn't it? lol... I think I'm just going to call myself American for the 'American Party'...and let the Jackasses and Pachyderms go be animals. They are good at that, aren't they?

At this point, all the know-it-all libs think they have all the answers so I say let it pass (Obamaramacare). Let it pass and watch it crumble. This whole house of cards needs to come tumbling down sooner rather than later anyway.

Red + Blue = Purple. Clever. I like that.

And I don't think most people realize the truth of what you say. Funny, how I'm sure even many of these, blindly led to oppose each other in a false dichotomy, would be likely to accuse others of being "sheeople."

here is the thing 21 hours of say nothing of importance to block a vote , can you say GRAND STANDING this was a show boat soap box stunt if there was ever one!

21 hours should have been spent pointing out the fact that both sides are not for the people any more but of self indulgence, corporate greed and self fulfilling power trip.

The Med care system is a mess, the Gov spending is out of control, care and treatment for vets is a joke, and we still poke our noses in places it does not belong, Syria is one.

Now i could go on but you get the Idea of topics to talk about all of could have been talked about for 21 hours if not longer. Ted Cruz is no different than any other one in DC.

Brother ... It's not about Obamarama Care, it's not about a shutdown ...

It's bigger and more long-term than those opening moves. The more moves played, the farther along the game is going to progress.

It was the Republicans ... first ... who tried to shutdown the Tea Party. They passed the torch along to the Dems, and the Dems just got caught with it is all. There seem to be some other people in this thread (e.g. references to purple) who have not been entirely fooled by what is going on here.

THIS is one of the biggest conspiracies of all. It's so big you can't see the horizon because the damned forest is in the way ... screw the trees. When you go back and fact check language, you'll see the 'founding fathers' were in on it too.

Might be about to happen. I just got an insider's e-mail that says everything just this side of "Anticipate default."

An intelligent person would be looking for indicators in the flight operations range of the DC area. The timing of this 'trucker thing' has got some of TPTB more than a bit nervous.

Remember the Arab Spring? Is it time to mark our calendars for the American fall?
