Are you in the USA mate? Because if you are then things are probably different over there...

Here in the UK the CPS will not prosecute you unless they are 100% sure you have COMITTED a crime. If there is any doubt they cannot convict you. Guilty by association would not work in that respect? What about all the journalists etc that access it for research, they cant jail them aswell surely?

Some chap from PC world wrote an article about it aswell, presumably if they pull the plug hes straight on his way to D wing?!

If anything....if the FBI choose to prosecute people who are using TOR to do illegal stuff, it will be literally be like fishing in a pond with tens of thousands of fish. They might catch one fish out of ever 10,000 or so. The vast majority of people they are going to go after are those distributing large amounts of child porn, those selling large amounts of illegal substances/weapons, etc..... and those few , VERY few cases of individuals who are NOT large scale criminals, but will be made examples out of, in order to scare the public from doing the same thing.

You say that as if the laws and rules for prosecution are static.

You are giving legal advice. Consider the full scope of responsibility for doing so.

How many people through history were engaging in legal activities that were suddenly deemed illegal and their track records were used against them? One day it's legal to belong to a certain group... the next you're being rounded up.

Assume everyone knows everything you are doing... or will someday... and choose your hills to die on accordingly.

That should be blatantly obvious to every person alive today.
