If school systems have this in use then they will make room in there budget for more things then simple supplies, other then that this will be a revolutionary teaching tool, to be used in many ways

how will this revolutionize how society as whole functions?

I believe very soon this technology will be incorporated in to every single persons daly life. Think about it..

3D models of intricate designs that are made by students, of chouarse!!

What else do you buy at cheap dollar stores that are easier to buy than make with revolutionary technology that allows you to manufacture on the fly on your own premises.

You obviously can't think man !!!

... snarcasm aside, I'm with you!

We will have these in our homes one day as a matter of fact, like the kettle.. you can buy them now for under $2000, not the sort you can do much more than print plastic whistles with, but still if you're innovative and have a design, can implement it in a cad application, then you can hold it in your hands within a few hours.

THAT is awesome, in my mind.

It will, sadly, render art a thing of the past. Or influence new and more creative art. But what we now have as trinkets and so on, that are sold en masse on line, will be like magnetic tape.

Not vinyl records however, they're making a come back. And what is this I hear myself just ponder? a 3D printer to print out copies of vinyl records?

Ahha I've already come up with a reason for the law to bash your door in and arresting you at gun point... stop manufacturing homebake beatles records you god damn hippies!!!!!

Maybe sparty is right... lets all go to the cheap dollar store.. the pigs are always around the corner in the donut shop and can't see that far.

No, we need to invent a shrinking machine to shrink people down, so we can print out normal sized space ships and planets. That way we save on the plastic.
