Putting up some of my personal lightning pictures. I love photographing lightning and get out every Monsoon season and try to get some new ones. This year the Monsoon was non-productive in my neck of the woods though. Sand casts made by vitrification caused by lightning are called Fulgurites and you can see them for sale on Ebay.

I heard what they want to do is get rid of coal fired power plants. They'll replace them with lighting rods that gather lighting strikes and move that power into large batteries.

This one is from the same night. It struck about a 100 yards or so away. Blinded me for a split second, and the thunder from it shook me. After this one I decided to call it a night and go inside hahaha.

This one reminds me of the movement in the famous Belgium UFO photo. The bolt in background is not blurred or distorted. Like the Lightening bolt warped space!

Great pics, on this page!

I absolutely love this pics. Believe me, it scared the **** out of me after it struck. Later that night when I was going through the pics I was shocked that I got such a great pic. I love how you can basically follow the bolt in the pic. Thanks for the kinds words though.

Not sure if you'll see this, but I found the pictures from google and a site that has more pictures of lighting taken by professional photographers.

Those are AWESOME pics! The second one down, with all the pillars side by side is amazing. Someone mentioned all that "unharnessed" power, but it isn't really unharnessed. It is tying the atmosphere to the earth. It is balancing a charge to keep us in equilibrium. I don't think we would want to harness it, because there could be repercussions. I have also often wondered if high altitude lightning helps to create ozone and/or patch holes in the ozone layer?
