Generational cycles.

I didn't know which of the other two posts this related to then rationalized that it deserves it own thread.

Generations go in cycles and the fifth and most recent cycle was broken down below.

Now just what is the generation after the millennial in for? Well my guess is war.
The last three Crisis eras had the Revolutionary War, The Civil War, WWII.

I would comment further but I have not read enough of the source material to say I agree or disagree with their premise. It sounds plausible but there are so many factors at play, the proof would have to be strong to show the repetition does exist and has an effect.

I once wrote a thread about the way that America and Britain spent fifty years after World War Two swinging from left to right in their politics and back again at about the same time;

Thus Truman went with the British Attlee (Labour).
Eisenhower went with Churchill and Macmillan (Conservative).
Kennedy went with Wilson (Labour).
Nixon went with Heath (Conservative).
Carter went with Wison (again).
Famously, Reagan went with Thatcher, continuing with their successors.
The correlation only broke down when Blair kept going, instead of going away.
I think Britain has now got one step behind; Cameron is our equivalent of the second Bush era.

I found a very interesting look at generational cycles in The Fourth Turning (though I admit it too quite a bit for me to slog through it). www.fourthturning.com...

Theory is that generations go through four cycles - Prophets, Nomads, Heroes and Artists - with a crisis occurring every (approximate) 80-100 years. Pretty interesting theory, it seems to hold going back to the 1500's with 2 exceptions where the crisis-to-crisis cycle was only 3 generations. Seems we're in a holding pattern for a crisis right about now.
