So i have a little cold. I'm also a little hungry, after having a few luden's coughdrops, i realised, oops, i'm starting to eat these like candy. They taste like candy afterall. Then I started to wonder, how safe is this. I flipped over my package, and read:
Active ingredient Pectin 2.8mg. So then, I decided to look up pectin.
It is used to treat High Cholesterol
It will fix your mouth sores.
Prevents Prostate Cancer and Colon Cancer
Diabetes and Gastro Issues.
Prevents Leads and Metal Posioning.
Reduce Damage from Radiation.
also
It's used as a thickening agent is baking.
It's used to hold dentures to you.

Side effects:
you go potty a little more (that's why it's not in Kaopectate anymore)

Seems to me the smart thing would be to eat these miracle gifts all day long.
As Longs as the dyes FD&C blue no. 2, FD&C red no. 40 and other ingredients are safe.
You're welcome.

You're a shill for the coughalogical illuminato-capitalist tastists!

Thanks by the way, I'll grab some next time I'm at the drug store! I wonder if they make a non-artificially colored variety?

Pectin is good to consume in moderation. It ties to glucose and fructose to make them more slowly absorbed, so a part of that homemade jam sugar is not even utilized, it could have less calories than it says.

By regulating sugar you gain. A metabolite of Pectin is used in a product called F21 sugar blocker. F21 also has a chemical from a tree mushroom in it which has good properties also. I guess they are not called mushrooms but that is what I call them. I got that information from studying the ingredients from their site.

I wouldn't overuse Pectin because it can also cause hypoglycemic events and it can also cause a depletion of minerals because it has some of the effects similar to Phytic acid I think. Putting some homemade jam on your toast is better tasting than a pill anyway. Fruits contain pectin, eating fruit is good for you if in moderation.

If the body is moderating sugar well, it helps control cholesterol. Cholesterol is the building block of many necessary things in the body, it is supposed to be used when needed, not sit at high levels in the body. Cholesterol levels goes up and down in the blood during the day. When you break down muscle, it should start to build new muscle right away, but if the right chemistry in the body is not there it floats around in the blood till the chemicals to reassemble is available. Now this is what I get from studying these things but I may be a little off in my interpretation. A book won't tell you this directly, you have to combine the info and evaluate it. I have probably read more articles on this than most GPs but way less than a metabolic specialist.
