Baghdad - Syrian trade exchange with Iraq topped five billion U.S. Dollar in 2011- up from the US$2 in the previous year.
Abdul-Hussein Jaberi, an advisor for the Iraqi government, told AKnews today that the trade exchange was in the fields of energy, industry, agriculture and health.

He added the government hopes to raise the volume to US$7 billion in 2012 through a plan it has devised. However, he did not expand on the plan.

Thank you for taking the time to investigate and report on these issues, and particularly for having a sensible, balanced outlook rooted in the search for logic amidst the fearmongering and propaganda.

Being business partners doesn't necessarily make you military allies, especially when it comes to trading weapons of mass destruction. Lets say for arguments sake they are military allies, given the fact Iraq is constantly under terrorist attack why would Assad truck WMD's over the neighboring border? The risk there is extremely high the weapons could fall into the FSA and or Al Qaeda/Foreign Fighters hands. Now lets say all went well during delivery to Iraq these weapons still are under constant threat from Al Qaeda and corrupt Iraqi officials/military/police.

SENSE.

This story makes none.

So this is just pure conjecture to fit someone's agenda. I've really had enough of this BS. Why aren't the UN doing more to find the facts and put an end to this madness?

Maybe the muslin brotherhood has become such a pain in the azz around that part of the world folks are just turning their heads or actually sanctioning this behind closed doors. The early use of gas used in Syria may have been testing for public and international reaction. Small doses at first then a big dose.

You can't believe a word Assad says either. All we can do is research all of the claims and try to match them up with each other to see if they jive together or conflict.

This article isn't about Assad is it? It's about the FSA.

Seems the propaganda machine is running full tilt now. The FSA reporting? Uhm, yeah. Assad moving chemical weapons into Iraq before he hands them over to the Russians? Logical.

Did anyone actually expect this wouldn't happen? I mean, many of them came from Iraq. This way his allies will have them if he ever wants them back. I figure our government already expected this to happen.

Yeah, this is BS. We heard these lies before when it was Saddam hiding his chemical weapons in Syria. How will it be possible to know if you got all of Assad's chemical weapons in an active war zone? Supposedly he has only used sarin so far. How does anyone know if he hasn't hidden VX somewhere, or nuclear weapons for that matter?

I think you hit the whole center of the issue right there and by something you actually had added secondary to the main point, too. "Active War Zone". Would anyone...ANY leader..move the world's MOST valuable weapons (perhaps, pound for pound, most valuable in or out of weapons, depending on who is looking) across roads which are in regular contest for control, subject to ambush and through border checkpoints as often as not in flux for control themselves?

I'm not sure of the specific history to control of the border point these trucks crossed, but the Rebels are taking and losing border areas all through this fight, in a fluid situation.

Active War Zone... Indeed... The three words which best describe why Assad would never..in a million years..move this stuff that way, IMO. Flying it? Maybe...but it still makes no sense to reason he'd WANT to do that, eh?

The propaganda people need to at least ask themselves if what they produce makes 'common' sense before triple checking to insure it makes sense in terms of a lack of direct contradictions. lol... That last part shouldn't take effort, but they often get even that much wrong.
