BEST police officer in the world

Might have posted this in the past or someone else did, but I'm gonna post it again.
Plano Tx man is pulled over for an expired tag. After the officer wrote the ticket, he slipped $100.00 in the citation to help the guy pay for his tag, as the man wasnt working but looking for work or going to a job interview, I dont remember
The best thing about this story, is the officer wants to remain anonymous. Nothing like a good deed from an anonymous good person.

I can appreciate this. I've become fed up with officer's actions lately, and it's refreshing to see this type of behavior. I just wish the good ones would weed out the bad ones, or at least hold them acountable for aggressive actions. Ja feel?

Hi Homer,thank you for posting this,so heartwarming to see.This is what is is meant by Goodness.There are good and bad eggs in every batch,every segment of society.i was friends with a cop who had by the time i met him,had already spent 3 years of his life,and away from his family(mom,dad,siblings)in Witness Protection-for reporting other cops who murdered a suspect during interrogation.He believed that was wrong,and he stood up for what he believed in-even though now he's been robbed of the job he loved-being a cop.He can never go back,he's a target for the rest of his life.But he did what he felt to be the right thing-at risk of his own life.

It is unfortunate when police officers break the law. I was an officer for over 20 years and then became disabled, on the job, and am unable to continue doing what I love to do.

I was an officer in Helena-West Helena, Arkansas and was friends with several of the officers there that got busted for the FBI sting Delta Blues. I had no idea that these officers were capable of doing what they did and it was a huge slap in the face especially since I knew and worked with some of them personally.

What the officer in the OP did is not something new or even far and few between. While it was a very good and commendable thing to do it is something that officers do across the country every day except you very seldom here about it.

What you do here about, especially here on ATS, are all the bad things that officers do. You here from so many members about how they actually hate cops and will be glad when the people rise up and take them all out.

What you never hear about are how officer are almost always the first responders to any situation that happens be it a house fire, heart attack, accidents, etc. Anywhere that people are going to be hurt and 911 has been called the police are usually the first to respond. Officers run into houses to make sure that everyone is out during house fires, perform CPR on people that have had heart attacks, pull people out of overturned vehicles that are on fire and on and on. But you never hear about these things or most people don't want to hear about these things because it doesn't fit in with their preconceived ideas that cops are just black booted thugs that love to make life miserable for everyone else and stomp on their constitutional rights.

The thing is that police officers know how people feel about them and yet they still pull those hating people out of the burning fires and cars and perform the CPR on them knowing that after it is all over the people are still going to hate them.

And I rest my case. This thread has been up for over 24 hours and only a handful of people have responded. No one wants to hear about a good police officer. It's just not worthy of their time. All anyone wants to hear about are all the black-booted thuggish examples of our men in blue.

This is really sad.

This definitely is a nice change of pace to the other thread of the officers practically beating up a poor woman. This story is definitely heart-warming thank you for sharing this!

There are many jobs in this country that are overpaid for what they do(CEO, Execs, Etc). I think everyone can agree even the haters that police/fire/ems are the most unappreciated and under paid positions in the US. (teachers to) These people risk their lives to makes ours better every time they put on the uniform. I know on ATS the bad apples are the ones that receive any kind of recognition and that is just not fair to the 95% of officers that provide a fair and just system that protects us all.

Let's all pop a top, twist one up, what ever your vice and cheer three times for our brave women and men in uniform!!!

I'm not buying it. What's the point of getting teary eyed over this anyway? The officer is just going to rob the next 'wrong doer' motorist of his hard earned money. He's probably out there 'revenue collecting' right now.

How about just leaving us the heck alone. Wasting our time, pulling us over on highways and exposing us to dangerous rushing traffic. Leave us the heck alone, and keep your money.

Wow, I've never seen a cop help anyone in my life. It would be nice to know those types of cops exist. Every time I see them, they're either collecting revenue, or eating donuts.

Okay I'll join you in that toast. I have dealt with very corrupt police officers who could have turned me into a hater, had that not been balanced by one of the most caring and decent officers I ever met. I was in a wheelchair at the time and when he spotted my hubby taking me out for a walk he would always stop and ask how I was doing and things were going in regards to what put me in that chair. It was so appreciated.

I just saw this thread and have to say you are absolutely right. I have the utmost respect for the good and honest officers out there. It sickens me that the 'bad apples' seem to be seen more often than the 'good guys'. I love seeing articles like this and wish we saw more of them.

Let's be honest folks. For every ataboy a business gets, they get 1000 complaints, so don't be surprised that people are not moved by others doing the right thing. Is the brutality worse today or are we just seeing it on youtube as 99% of the population carries a video camera / cell phone everywhere?

I think it is a mix actually. Cops have been brutalizing people for years, and because there was no "PROOF" and it was your word against a cops word, they got away with it. Just look at the recent video of the off duty cop shooting a man while the man was IN his own car and if that had been you or me, we would have been arrested on the spot, not sent home on a paid vacation.

Cops used to see the citizens are pretty good people, and only a few of them were criminals, but now they are trained, YES TRAINED, that everyone is a criminal in waiting. I'll give you one example. Years ago, I was stopped by a state trooper in Jacksonville and he said I ran the red light. I knew for a fact I had not, and I told him I hadn't, and he said, "Well, you've run one at some time" and handed me the ticket! Those were his exact words. You don't get to meet out justice because at some point we have all done wrong.

There is a definite push to make us the enemy in the cops eyes, and to make us hate the cops. I don't think it is an accident. Bad cops are kept on the force, they have repeated issues of overuse of force, and nothing is done to them. The people are fed up, scared, and frankly some are ready to start fighting back it seems.

There are lots of great cops out there, but being nice should not get you a medal. It should be the norm.

For all the bad cops out there and the militarization of the peace-keepers, there are some solid, wonderful people who consider the job an important service to people oriented profession. They are the non-ironic, incorruptible few that seem to be rarer and rarer these days.

I remember this one cop called to my neighbor's house, a deaf, alcoholic, pissed and bitter, forgotten, drug addicted Vietnam vet only getting attention paid to him because he was throwing a tantrum in public.

Over time, that responding cop befriended that man, who nobody before could befriend, and visited him twice a week for months and on to years and was the one who found him one day, finally dead from drink and drugs and at peace.

That guy's last years were made better because that cop walked the walk and did the work to make a bad life a little better.

That guy was very unpleasant and though I was nice to him, I didn't have the selflessness to spend time with him. That cop had a new family and I know the sacrifice he made to spend precious time with that vet... as well as buying the guy groceries and cooking for him.

Anyway, there have been others I have experienced, who tear up tickets, or make them for lesser infractions to help you with your insurance or budget... or look the other way from a minor infraction just to be human. But they are so very rare these days.

Most now are power hungry thugs who should be in prison rather than filling them for their corporate, fascist masters.

Wow, this happened ages ago. Are you all just becoming aware of it now?

Sad day when we get excited over an act of kindness by a public servant. Should be a daily occurrence.

I DO! This brought me to tears. It is refreshing to hear about a good man with a badge and a gun.

We see so much horror perpetrated by individuals dressed in black and blue. I would love to see more postings of people who still have a heart and a soul and the power to spread LOVE... not hate.

Too many, are actively participating in the destruction and foundation of our country and humanity itself. They don't seem to realize that their actions will have dire consequences for their children and grandchildren. It will be the future generations to suffer the most.

They don't seem to understand, just because they are currently above the law of humanity, they are not above the law of Karma and GOD. To quote a famous television judge... "Just because, you can do something, you know is wrong, doesn't mean you should."

One day, they will be like President Woodrow Wilson. They will be at the end of their life, with no time left, to make their wrongs, right and they will lie there with nothing else to do, but think about what they have done and wish to GOD for a second chance. Unfortunately, like President Wilson... It will be too late and all of their crimes, will be set in stone and turn to dust in the wind. While future generations will be forced to endure the actions of their ego, they will lie in eternity with nothing but time, remorse and regret. I feel sorry for those individuals whom have chosen such a negative path in life and I pray for them daily.

I for one, am very proud of this brave officer. He has most likely seen a lot of bad stuff in his day. And yet, he didn't allow it to steal his heart and soul. Bravo! He is the kind of man that deserves to be honored and adored. If I lived near him, I would bake him cookies and shower him with love.

Thank you for this post. It lifted my spirits to the sky. I only wish, so many others would take a lesson from this brave young officer and learn from his generosity and good humanity. GOD BLESS HIM AND GOD BLESS HIS FAMILY TOO....... IN THIS LIFE AND THE NEXT. HE is one of the good guys. HE, is the kind of man, whom deserves to be respected and honored. HE, is the kind of man, ALL MEN, could learn from, if they wanted too and if they tried. Sending out Giant air hugs! May the wings of 1,000 ANGELS wrap around him and keep him forever safe. We need more MEN like HIM =)

I agree, It SHOULD be the norm. I'm old enough to remember when it was the norm. But this, good cop, DOES DESERVE A NICE HOME BAKED COOKIE. =)

If they weren't playing with taxpayer monopoly dollars it might be cute.

Almost as touching as if the cop gave him first aid after kicking in his teeth!
