The first test flight of the LRASM anti-ship missile occurred on August 27th near Point Mugu. The missile is based on the AGM-158 JASSM-ER.

The missile flies initially at medium altitude, before it drops down to low altitude to drive into the target. It uses INS and GPS for initial navigation, and an IR seeker for pinpoint accuracy. The missile is reported to be highly jamming resistant and can operate in contested or degraded environments.

During this test the missile flew a programmed route until about halfway to the target, when it switched to an autonomous route using its own systems. There were three objects in the target area, it correctly identified the proper target, and hit it (an unmoving 80 meter vessel).

The missile is capable of either an air launch or launch from a MK41 VLS system used on ships and submarines.

The brand new LRASM (Long Range Anti-Ship Missile) based on the AGM-158 JASSM-ER (Extended Range) missile was successfully tested at the Point Mugu range, in California, recently

The prototype of a stealth anti-ship missile was first tested on Aug. 27, 2013, even if DARPA released the news some days later.

Along with its ability to be launched from aircraft, the missile will be compatible with Mk41 Vertical Launch System used by surface warships and submarines.

The tripartite research is carried out together by DARPA, USAF and US Navy’s Office of Naval Research, with Lockheed Martin being the manufacturer of the weapon.

The rocket was tested using a Dyess Air Force B-one (“Bone”), from 337th Test and Evaluation Squadron.

Cool, a stealth autonomous anti-ship missile!

I wonder what one of those puppies will set you back?

Enemy that doesn't exist?

Terror Watch List

In September 2007, the Inspector General of the Justice Department reported that the Terrorist Screening Center (the FBI-administered organization that consolidates terrorist watch list information in the United States) had over 700,000 names in its database as of April 2007 - and that the list was growing by an average of over 20,000 records per month.

And Russia, and China are our best friends and would never dream of any kind of fight against us, right?

While a lack of preparedness to whup the appropriate arse every now and again will doom people, I must point out that the vast majority of those hundreds of thousands of people, belong to organisations which were created, and are still funded, and equipped by, the intelligence services of western powers, such as the CIA and NSA in America, and the various military intelligence organisations here in Britain.

This is a fact. It is not up for debate. The people you are talking about are employees of the states that they are supposedly enemies of. In reality, the US and UK governments, in starting a "War on Terror" which features these people in the role of villains, essentially have gone to war with themselves, and with the people they claim to administrate on behalf of.

Haven't you heard China is just going to buy the US next year.

In reply to the post about China buying the US next year, they have been chipping in cash on our elections since at least Clinton. They don't want to buy us. It would be like getting married. Why buy the cow when you get the milk for free?

The USS Desert Ship (LLS-1) at the White Sands Missile Range has successfully launched an LRASM from the VLS tubes. The missile was strapped to a MK-114 rocket motor, which is used on VL/ASROC torpedoes. The test validated the VLS capability, and proved that the missile could be launched from ships without damaging itself.

They basically gathered all the data possible from the past, books, historic events etc till today and still recording on, and inserted(typed) all of it into quantum computer ( www.dwavesys.com... ), and calculated what with todays progress of technology they will achieve in next ~40 years. Don't forget that in 1950s after famous capture in roswell small group of people has gained roughly ~100 years of technological advantage over rest of us. In other words what this 'quantum computer' predicted for us in the future, they already had it 60 years ago...

Subsonic, it relies on stealth instead of speed.
