Here are two Sumerian proverbs that I like to think of as a pair. To me, they speak of the elite minority who enslaves the rest of humanity with debt in order to enjoy their unearned spoils.

"The fox could not build his own house, and so he came to the house of his friend as a conqueror."
- We were lulled into submission with religion and authority then gutted and robbed.

"The fox, having urinated into the sea, said 'the whole of the sea is my urine'."
- That same fox that gutted us now tells us that his piss is something to be admired.
