Your vote is just a POLL so they can fudge the numbers and nothing more; the presidential election is an indirect vote, the political parties choose electors, these electors vote... or do they? Consider the following carefully...

Legal Requirements or Pledges
Electors in these States are bound by State Law or by pledges to cast their vote for a specific candidate:

1. ALABAMA – Party Pledge / State Law – § 17-19-2
2. ALASKA – Party Pledge / State Law – § 15.30.040; 15.30.070
3. CALIFORNIA – State Law – § 6906
4. COLORADO – State Law – § 1-4-304
5. CONNECTICUT – State Law – § 9-175
6. DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA – DC Pledge / DC Law – § 1-1312(g)
7. FLORIDA – Party Pledge / State Law – § 103.021(1)
8. HAWAII – State Law – §§ 14-26 to 14-28
9. MAINE – State Law – § 805
10. MARYLAND – State Law – § 20-4
11. MASSACHUSETTS – Party Pledge / State Law – Ch. 53, § 8, Supp.
12. MICHIGAN – State Law – §168.47 (Violation cancels vote and Elector is replaced.)
13. MISSISSIPPI – Party Pledge / State Law – §23-15-785(3)
14. MONTANA – State Law – § 13-25-104
15. NEBRASKA – State Law – § 32-714
16. NEVADA – State Law – § 298.050
17. NEW MEXICO – State Law – § 1-15-5 to 1-15-9 (Violation is a fourth degree felony.)
18. NORTH CAROLINA – State Law – § 163-212 (Violation cancels vote; elector is replaced and is subject to $500 fine.)
19. OHIO – State Law – § 3505.40
20. OKLAHOMA – State Pledge / State Law – 26, §§ 10-102; 10-109 (Violation of oath is a misdemeanor, carrying a fine of up to $1000.)
21. OREGON – State Pledge / State Law – § 248.355
22. SOUTH CAROLINA – State Pledge / State Law – § 7-19-80 (Replacement and criminal sanctions for violation.)
23. VERMONT – State Law – title 17, § 2732
24. VIRGINIA – State Law – § 24.1-162 (Virginia statute may be advisory – “Shall be expected” to vote for nominees.)
25. WASHINGTON – Party Pledge / State Law – §§ 29.71.020, 29.71.040, Supp. ($1000 fine.)
26. WISCONSIN – State Law – § 7.75
27. WYOMING – State Law – §§ 22-19-106; 22-19-108

Did you catch that? The electors in the above states MUST vote for a specific candidate. What about those state laws? O.K.;... my home state:

North Carolina General Statutes > Chapter 163 > Article 18 > § 163-212 - Penalty for failure of presidential elector to attend and vote Current as of: 2010 Any presidential elector having previously signified his consent to serve as such, who fails to attend and vote for the candidate of the political party which nominated such elector, for President and Vice-President of the United States at the time and place directed in Gen. Stat. 163-210 (except in case of sickness or other unavoidable accident) shall forfeit and pay to the State five hundred dollars ($500.00), to be recovered by the Attorney General in the Superior Court of Wake County. In addition to such forfeiture, refusal or failure to vote for the candidates of the political party which nominated such elector shall constitute a resignation from the office of elector, his vote shall not be recorded, and the remaining electors shall forthwith fill such vacancy as hereinbefore provided. The clear proceeds of forfeitures provided for in this section shall be remitted to the Civil Penalty and Forfeiture Fund in accordance with Gen. Stat. 115C-457.2.

What about those "Party Pledge" states like Alabama?

Section 17-14-32 - Names on ballots; vote for candidate counted as vote for designated electors. The names of all candidates for President and Vice President who are nominated as provided in this chapter shall be printed on the official ballots under the emblem of their respective political parties, as filed in the office of the Secretary of State of Alabama. The names of the electors of the candidates for President and Vice President shall not be printed upon the ballots. A vote for a candidate for President or Vice President shall be counted as a vote for the electors of the political party or independent body by which such candidates were named, as listed on the certificate of nomination or nominating petition.

How about that? "Party Pledge" electors don't even get the candidates on the ballot! Just the political party emblem... How sad is this? Not only does your vote not count, the electors votes don't really count either... they are legally obligated to vote for who the hell they are told to vote for, or handed a ballot with the party emblem on it and simply drop it in the box... it isn't oh most people voted for Joe Bob, so you represent all of them in your district and vote for Joe Bob... just how sorry is election day? 27 that's twenty-seven states where electors are told exactly who to vote for, and if they don't... they boot them, fine them, and then say next elector in line til one does the dirty deed.

How can it get any worse? Oh it gets worse...

No Legal Requirement Electors in these States are not bound by State Law to cast their vote for a specific candidate:
1. ARIZONA
2. ARKANSAS
3. DELAWARE
4. GEORGIA
5. IDAHO
6. ILLINOIS
7. INDIANA
8. IOWA
9. KANSAS
10. KENTUCKY
11. LOUISIANA
12. MINNESOTA
13. MISSOURI
14. NEW HAMPSHIRE
15. NEW JERSEY
16. NEW YORK
17. NORTH DAKOTA
18. PENNSYLVANIA
19. RHODE ISLAND
20. SOUTH DAKOTA
21. TENNESSEE
22. TEXAS
23. UTAH
24. WEST VIRGINIA

These 24 states, don't have a "required vote" for the elector like the last 27... so you say hey democracy! At least it is somewhere... um not that's 24 votes where the elector can vote for whomever they want too, whole state polls Democrat electors say "Nah I like the Republicans" so that's who I am voting for, or "Well, since this corporation paid me to use my elector vote for Billy Bob instead of Joe Bob... that's who I am going with." So, I hope when the next election buzz starts circulating... you can maintain your sanity hell, I hope you can maintain it now... feel free to check your states law as list above... if you even have one. I am just reporting straight from the horses mouth, check the links...
*Source for state lists*

One would think election laws don't change often, but they are always revising them to better rig the game... so who they want is in there. Republican, Democrat, 3rd party? Morals?... the "issues" none of those matter, when it comes to rigged politics, they are just a game to keep us arguing amongst ourselves, to shift focus off of them... a simple shell game of divide and conquer.

This thread was written for educational purposes, using sources directly, from federal and state governments. They have been trying to take over local next with Super Pacs... do not let them do it! I still believe in use the system to change the system, the very small say we do have in local politics? Use it before you lose it.

Thank you for reading.

I have lived in many states as a military kid and member as adult.

North Carolina is: the most corrupt, backwards, narrow minded, short sighted, places I have ever seen in the world, I have gotten around.

The town where I had bought a house in ENC... the only trash company was contracted with the city to provide collection. The money was tacked onto taxes. The govt cousin got a kickback, the trash co. cousin got a kickback, and the town made it ILLEGAL to throw recyclables away. -- close down every recyc center in county where you could get $$ for the stuff, and required people to use recycle bins.. hhmmm, where did all THAT money go?

Or ABC liquor,, STATE RAN liquor stores... need a bottle of liquor? hit the ABC store,
Need beer or wine? go to the Grocery Store..

the Liquor store didn't sell wine/beer!

CANT GET ANY MORE INBRED RETARDED THAN THAT!!

It's called corruption not inbreeding, this kind of thing you are talking about takes place in every city, state and public office, from local all the way up to federal. Sure it may be easier to see it in some states more than others.

But if the content of the op is digested, it will show that even the electors do not have a say in who gets in office... they are told who to vote for or they have to vote for their party in the 27 states that do have elector laws, in the ones that don't... well read the op... no sense writing it twice.
