Nervous Israelis Rush for Gas Masks

Responding to threats of attack, Israeli citizens are grasping for more gas masks.

Apparently, *only* 60% of Israeli citizens have a gas mask.

Some are blaming Netanyahu.

Some in Israel believe that Israel is more than ready for any 'conventional' attack, but not so ready for 'unconventional' attacks (like chemical gas attacks).....

Maybe they know something we don't know ?

JERUSALEM — A shortage of gas masks caused a mini-melee among panicky moms pushing strollers here Wednesday, as Israelis prepared for possible U.S. airstrikes against Syria that could trigger retaliatory attacks in Israel.

At a post office distribution center in the Hadar Mall in West Jerusalem, Israelis broke through yellow security tape and clawed into boxes containing the government-issued kits. Postal authority spokeswoman Maya ­Avishai described the scene as “a brutal onslaught” against law and order, and police were called to calm the crowd.

Jamie Schwed, mother of a newborn, was frustrated to find that all the gas masks had been distributed. “They warned us of a possible attack, and they run out of masks? It’s ridiculous,” she said.

Doubtful they know something beyond what everyone else does. They went scrambling for gas masks when the war in Iraq started as well. Most likely they just don't want to take any chances seeing how they are in a fairly high probability gas attack zone. Or maybe not.

Israel gets chemical attacked, they nuke Damascus.

Israel is the country that is rumored to have a " Samson option", if they think Israel is going to fall, they will launch their nukes...

Not just at their Enemies, but at as many as they can, under the thought that if Israel is falling, the world has once again allowed the attempted extermination of the Jewish people...

So yeah, a gas attack on Israel would not end well for who ever did it.

ETA: Remember this is not Pre-9/11, any restraint that existed in the west seems gone.

The four horsemen have already begun there routing option> Now let us let it play out.

It seems Israel thought it could achieve victory without getting its hands dirty -- using Americans to wage their wars and scorched earth policy throughout the Middle East.

War will never provide a path to absolute victory or sustainable peace -- war only gives birth to war.

America has suffered, Iraq has suffered, Afghanistan has suffered, Libya has suffered, Syria has suffered -- and eventually Israel too will suffer.

Nothing new since Israelis have been well prepared for anything that may come their way, usually coming from Iran. Netanyahoooooooo! must have stock in gas masks & other survival gear to keep the fear train running!

But only 60% have masks? That doesn't sound right.

By nuke you mean nuclear weapon? If so, you can't be serious?

If Israel was to get attacked by a so called WMD, it could also be false flag. Not saying it would be, but the way things are over there, and here, i wouldn't be too surprised.

Anything we do (well as far as getting involved in Syria's crap) is just logically going to cause more danger for Israel anyway. Along with more hatred for US. But then in my opinion, i think that may have been the plan all along.

At some point in time, it's going to be game-on in the middle east. When who knows, but it WILL happen.

I was under the impression that the isrealis had a near 100% gas mask coverage in response to the Iraq " situations " of 1991 / 2003

the population hasn't risen by 35%+ so - what have they done with the gear they had ?

Probably not nukes, but Israel is rumored to have ion bombs whose fallout does not last as long as traditional nuclear weapons. They would probably use those.

There is a cause to go to war. We attack Syria. Syria attacks Israel. We go in full force to defend them and then we are entangled in another conflict. Its better to issue to go against Syria with Peaceful measures, then to ramp up potential hostilities.

Gas mask is somewhat useless against sarin gas attack. Lethal dose of sarin can be absorb thru the skin.
