A Russian entrepreneur who heads a hi-tech research project called 'Avatar' has contacted billionaires to offer them immortality.
Itskov claims he will personally oversee their immortality process, in exchange for an undisclosed fee.
Itskov, a media entrepreneur, claims to have hired 30 scientists to reach this goal - and aims to transplant a human brain into a robot body within 10 years.
'You have the ability to finance the extension of your own life up to immortality. Our civilization has come very close to the creation of such technologies: it's not a science fiction fantasy. It is in your power to make sure that this goal will be achieved in your lifetime,' says Itskov in a letter delivered to billionaires listed in Forbes magazine.

Claims 'next stage' of science is to create a 'new human body'
'This project is leading to immortality,' says Dmitry Itskov
(CNN) -- A Florida scientist has developed a "brain" in a glass dish that is capable of flying a virtual fighter plane and could enhance medical understanding of neural disorders such as epilepsy.
The "living computer" was grown from 25,000 neurons extracted from a rat's brain and arranged over a grid of 60 electrodes in a Petri dish.
The brain cells then started to reconnect themselves, forming microscopic interconnections, said Thomas DeMarse, professor of biomedical engineering at the University of Florida.
"It's essentially a dish with 60 electrodes arranged in a dish at the bottom," explained DeMarse, who designed the study.

While the story is interesting, it IS the Daily Mail, so, a grain of salt is required.
A robot controlled by human brain cells could soon be trundling around a British lab, New Scientist has learned.
Kevin Warwick and Ben Whalley at the University of Reading, UK, have already used rat brain cells to control a simple wheeled robotMovie Camera.
Some 300,000 rat neurons grown in a nutrient broth and producing spikes of electrical activity were connected to the output of the robot's distance sensors. The neurons proved capable of steering the robot around a small enclosure
Warwick and colleagues can proceed as soon as they are ready, as they won't need specific ethical approval to use a human neuron cell line. That's because the cultures are available to buy and "the ethical side of sourcing is done by the company from whom they are purchased", Whalley says.

It didn't originate at dailymail, they just picked it up from others. The whole thing is legit if you look it up.
CNBC Covering THE EXACT SAME STORY!!!!!!!
Its also on RT, Yahoo, CNN, MSNBC, CBS, WIRED GIZMAG, ETC.
Happy now?

There's just no way to take this with a grain of Salt. It's INEVITABLE!!!!
CNN, NewScientist, ScienceDaily, and Peer reviewed journals are all sources of published proof that they have melded robotics with Rain Brain Stem cells, as well as Human Brain stem cells. There is no grains of salt with this.
We're 10 years away regardless!!!!
Settle down a little, okay? I demanded nothing from anyone regarding the story. I saw no links on the source page to original articles and simply made an assumption that it was an original story from the Mail.
And? What exactly do you propose we do about it?

We can agree then. The wealthy are going to get their 'holy grail' regardless of our opinions, who knows though, maybe their "getting what they wished for" won't work out quite the way they're hoping; see the hackers remarks above.
