Washington (CNN) -- None of the 107 nuclear facilities in the United States are protected against a high-force terrorist attack, and some are still vulnerable to the theft of bomb-grade nuclear fuel, or sabotage intended to cause a nuclear meltdown, a new report says.

This blew my mind. Talk about betrayal. I thought maybe there are a few journalists that have some semblance of intelligence. I was so very wrong.

Now all we need is Geraldo to go on live TV and discuss security guard movements and shift changes.

Maybe the public shaming will force the government to supply the required security measures? Oh, and don't forget to be afraid of the terrorist boogeyman hiding behind every bush that wants to murder your family with nuclear weapons.

Well this officially killed any interest I have in what these idiots have to say. If anything happens regarding nuclear power plants getting attacked after this, they should be held responsible.

Everybody is so quick to blame the MSM.

If you want to place the blame somewhere, why don't you blame:

School of Public Affairs at the University of Texas

^It's their report.

Hey OP,
god for bid there aren't any terrorists browsing ATS right now...

I would go ahead and hold YOU responsible.

the odds of our power plants having a terrorist attack, about .0009%, odds of our power plants decaying and falling apart real soon while no one does anything to fix them, 100%

we don't see that story coming out because no one wants to talk about the giant gorilla we have before us, decaying, dilapidated and antiquated nuclear power plants strewn across the entire nation waiting to fall apart.

terrorists have to do nothing for our broken down nuclear plants to break, just sit back and watch like the NRC is doing, oh and raise the "safe radiation" levels every now and again to not alarm anyone.

I have suspected this for a long time now. I imagine that they have a couple of over worked security guards and a guard shack at the gate (if they have gates).

I believe that the only reason we have nuclear power plants is to produce weapons, however, they probably treat these nuclear power plants like everyday non-nuclear power plants.

Why do I see this as a simple invitation to put my boots on and dance?

Read between the lines.

I don't watch CNN and have known for years the vulnerability of security at our nuclear power plants...scary, yes. But I don't blame a news outlet. I blame those who run the plants for not securing this extremely dangerous material that THEY DECIDED TO USE AND MAKE A PROFIT OFF OF even though the hazards outweigh the benefits.

not only are they not securing them very well, but they are letting them literally fall apart, which i think is a real danger as apposed to the bull sheet terror threat, the only terrorists we have, work in DC and all the 3 letter agency's with them.

Well by God, we must NEED to sacrifice even more liberty at the altar of almighty Security. Hey, security is more important than freedom isn't it?

True that, my friend. It's not like we don't have Fukushima already pumping radioactive water into the ocean. I've always wanted to glow in the dark.

You're gonna make me spew coffee out of my nose. Were you just waiting to use that youtube link? I'm not afraid of this BS. The worst thing it can do is kill me. Whatever is waiting for me on the other side can't be as bad as this existence on planet Earth. I would, however, like to know that my children are going to be irradiated and sterile.

So when the reporters report the truth we get mad at that. I applaud them for throwing that out there. Maybe we can have some oversight. I live in the "your screwed zone" of Pilgrim NPP. Its not exactly the shining star of the NPP world.

On the other hand...

The MSM's track record does not scream honest sincere concern for the rest of us. It is most likely a govt controlled puppet. So with that said why are they jumping up and down now. We have Fukushima being uncontainable. Most likely something more catastrophic will come of it. So maybe it is a desensitization tactic. Also, its just one more thing to fear. The govt tells us we have to fear a lot of things these days. So just one more mini mind f!@# from them.

Or

Just maybe it was some good ole honest reportin. Kent Brockman style

They are correct. US nuke plants are vulnerable to terrorist attack. So are our bridges. So are our cruise ships. So are our military ships in port. So are our military bases and barracks here in the USA. So are our shopping malls. ETC ETC EVERYTHING is. We are a wide open country. We aren't on military lock down.

I would have to say that whoever wrote this hasn't tried to break into a nuke plant because it would be an obituary . The guards are well armed and well trained.I know several and they have permission to shoot for any reason no questions asked and they would
