I like a lot of Lou's stuff, but will readily admit that he's produced some real garbage... Metal Machine Music is a great example. The stuff he did with Metallica is just embarrassing.

"Rock & Roll Animal" is one of the best live albums ever.

'DOA' by Bloodrock
That song came out when I was in junior high. It's one of the weirdest songs ever. What's really strange is that the local pop station played it at least once a day for a while.

Wonder if anybody remembers this:

'DOA' rocks. What are you talking about??? I only got turned onto it in the 80's. Thanks for reminding me of it; I had completely forgotten about it.

The only thing possibly worse would be for David Lynch and Mrs Miller to provide vocals to this instrumental.

How about Yoko screaming throughout the entire 90 minutes?

Hey, I'm a big Lou Reed and VU fan, but I have never been able to listen to more than three minutes of MMM. It's literally hard on the ears.

Indeed, adding in Yoko screaming for 90 minutes would take it new a whole new level of bad -- 'execrable' would be understating the matter.

First thought was this song, then upon reading the thread noticed that Leonard Nimoy had already been mentioned a couple of times, but not for this;

Going to give him the benefit of the doubt here and dismiss it as a 'novelty' song - a truly awful one at that.

Music is very much a subjective thing and I know some people like this song, but it makes me want to vomit.

The top ten countdown tells it all - popular music was absolutely awful at the time - nearly as bad as at present.

One of her particular favourites really annoys me, I think it's appalling.

To be fair, songs like the "Seven Tears" were only played between Christmas and New Year, much like Cliff Richard. That was the time that everyone was getting sentimental. "Only You" by the Flying Pickets and "Stop the Cavalry" falls into this category:

But then there's the criminally insanely camp, like the "Birdy Song" by the Tweets:

I said it's weird, not that it isn't a good song. The band Bauhaus is considered to have written the first goth song,(Bela Lugosi's Dead), but I'll submit that 'DOA' is very gothic. Not the lyrics, but the music. That's probably the darkest music ever. I wish I had a track of the just the music. No Vocals.

Well, I'm sure this could make the list for a lot of people, but I actually find it kind of melodic in a horribly chaotic way...

First, music isn't subjective. I can objectively prove (from an aesthetic and musical construction standpoint) that the fourth movement of Beethoven's Ninth Symphony or Miles Davis's "So What" are superior to the vast majority of the crap that is passed off as music today. And yes, I am a musician, music teacher, and an unabashed music snob.

That being said, we have to conclude that every generation has had its share of horrible music. However, as bad as most of what is popular today is, the seventies seemed to have a stranglehold on some of the worst music ever made. Consider the following:

And, that's just the beginning...

Oh, the humanity.

This is an awesome thread.

However, this is your lucky day, because there is a simple remedy for that particular ailment of yours. All you gotta do is swallow down a big ol' dose of 'Tubthumping'.
After becoming infected with '[color=FFFFFF]Tubthumper Syndrome', you'll be begging for 'The Safety Dance' to come back into your head. lol

Yes, that works. It does play videos, I don't think it plays well with ATS, though.
This is something that I accidentally discovered awhile back. I can only assume that it's like this for everyone, but I don't actually know.

That specific 11 character code is all that is needed in order to post the video, but if I use only that code, Youtube Vids won't play in the 'Preview Area'.

Just by adding '[color=4DD61C]&feature=related' onto the end of that 11 character code, it will play in the 'Preview Area'.

I'm not gonna post this vid again, but as an example:
[ yvid ][color=4DD61C]BhXkwvHfzBg[ /yvid]
This↑vid won't play in the preview area, but it will play in the post.

On the other hand, this↓one will play just fine in both the 'Preview Area' & also in the post.
[ yvid ][color=4DD61C]BhXkwvHfzBg&feature=related[ /yvid]

I think it comes in quite handy, since some Youtube Channels use settings which prevent you from being able to embed their vid onto another site. I just prefer being able to check it that way within the preview area, so I can fix it before I actually type the post.

There may be other ways to check. I don't know. I may even be doing it the hard way. I just know that method works good for me.

Seven Tears by Goombay Dance Band was preceded as Number One in the UK charts by another truly awful offering, Lion Sleeps Tonight by Tight Fit.

Bucks Fizz had a string of what can at best be described as 'crap' songs that were somehow hits - My Camera Never Lies was a particularly bad song, it somehow knocked Seven Tears from the top spot and thus making it three of possibly the worst songs of all time reaching Number One in succession - a quite damning indictment of the record buying public in the UK at the time.
