Is what you say not consistent with what Albert Pike said to Guisseppe Mazzini in his famous letter of 1871?

The elites have dealt with civil unrest and protests in the not-so-distant past so are undoubtedly prepared for another wave.
He'd been telling people that there is a war coming, and this war will not be fought with guns but will be a war of minds. This stuck with me ever since, and I think he's right. We are at war and most people don't even know it, and the war is for our minds which we should nourish and protect at all costs.

Yup. I guess you are referring to the Weathermen?
What we are seeing here is basically a form of marxism.

Sorry I may have this wrong, but are you suggesting that the article was perhaps some sort of influence towards this marxist ideology?

What we are seeing here is basically a form of marxism. "People of all countries, unite yourself (against your respective government)! " said Karl Marx. It all makes sense. Imagine you're Russia, or China, and you would like to control the West, but you are prevented from using nuclear weapons. The obvious thing to do is to introduce communism through the media, so that the people of entire western nations become marxist. Then, once these people kick out their respective capitalist (or whatever) government, the new "popular" system will be entirely marxist... AND with ultra-low level of technology. It would then be super easy for the communists to take hod of such nations.
But no one realize that. No one thinks about it.

Tell me, what is so appealing in what you call the "old society" that you want to keep it at all costs ?
A planetary civilisation is going to happen, and not because some elite group wants it, but because of technology and science. That's the trend we have been following for thousands of years now, from tribes to city-states to nations to continents to a planet. The question is not "will it happen and will we be able to stop it", but "what kind of new order of things do we want". Will technology be used to enslave us more, or used to free us ?

I'll give you a S&F for the thread because you could be right. Unfortunately this just shows that there is really no one we can trust, and nothing we can do. The bleak future will arrive whether we like it or not. Though I must say I never considered this angle. By effectively getting the world's population to destroy themselves and reset their technology while the elite maintain the current technology, the elite would gain a controlling edge unseen in the history of the world. From the ashes would rise kingdoms that would be subservient to their technological gods (read the current elites) who could smite them at will for not obeying. This is truly a nightmare in the making.

The US state is pushing very hard to become more like China. Capitalism allied to effective state control of the opinions of the populace. Its not there yet but its the obvious end destination if you extrapolate the trends from 2001 forward another 20 or 30 years.
