Money vs. Happiness

Money may not buy happiness, but it can help.
After all , its a tool we use in life, much like all other tools.

Granted, money its self will not make one happy, but if one had
enough money to use to enhance their life, then it in effect made them
happy.

Myself, living paycheck to paycheck, money would buy me happyness,
If i had enough, i could pay for the surgery to save my life, i could
buy my land out in the mountains away from civilization, i could afford
to buy means to generate my own power, i could afford to purchase enough
live stock to self sustain myself and my family, butcher a cow or two a year
for us to eat, and a cow or two to sell to cover the cost of processing them,
as well as medical and feed throughout the year.

i could live a very happy life if i had enough money, avoiding what most consider
to be a 'normal' life.

I think the big diffrence is the mental attitude you have twords money. If you want
it to keep up with the neighbors , or show off to the crowds, then no money will not
buy you happiness, if you use it to enhance your life, and add to your experience
in life, then yes, money can buy happiness.

The problem is to many are to shallow and relate money to showing off and having
the latest and greatest before anyone else. Instead of using money to enhance their
lives.

It all depends on your view of money and its use.

I'd love to prove this, anyone wana send me a few million to prove it can buy
happiness? i need 1.2 m for the surgery and enough to buy some land, build a
cabin, and some livestock.. come on any takers? *LOL*....

darn... if it was only that easy..

i had a 6 figure job once, and was ABSOLUTELY MISERABLE!!!!!! With more money came more problems, what to do with savings, what to invest in, people starting to come around to borrow and mooch, 14-16 hour work days, not seeing family or friends, health took a toll, stopped following dreams just to make more money.....

It's nice to have some savings, and gives you freedom to take time off, travel, meditate, etc.

But now, I'd be happy with a job doing something I enjoy even if it was $8-9 an hour, as long as I enjoyed it, I would be happy

Happiness and Sadness are interconnected.

We get things, which brings us happiness.
They break or we lose them, which brings us sadness.

Money comes, which brings us happiness.
We spend or lose money, which brings us sadness.

Things and People come and go. When the things and people we like come, we are happy. When they leave, we are sadness.

We cannot cannot choose that, but what we can choose is to stay relaxed in the moment and allow these emotions to come and go without hanging on to them. This inner relaxation - this inner peace is The Kingdom of Heaven within you.

That's insane! But everyone is different and chose to see life differently. Personally I would love a job that paid six figures and would give me something to do all day. That would be fun.

Money and happiness, do they really go well together? are they not two seperate issues, It seems it is an individual sort of issue, what will make someone happy may make someone else unhappy, I love nature, and it makes me happy, if I was to awake and see a lot of birds or animals dying because of some outbreak of diesese I would be extremely unhappy no matter how much money I had, or didn't have, Money is security, if you want it to be, or its another bet for a gambler, etc, kept in its place money is a good asset for anyone, and it should be treated as just that, its support when something goes wrong like an accident. we have enough money for treatment we could not otherwise get without it... we don't have to worry about winter fuel bills our money can help us with that too... but it cannot buy peace of mind or happiness if you are not happy then money will not make you any happier if you have a lot of it... its you yourself your attitude, your wants, and desires, your inner self and if all of that is not functioning well, then money cant fix it.... money is a tool that can help. but that help can only stretch so far, the rest is up to you yourself.....

Well generally speaking, i think money can make you satisfied....for a short time at least, but i don't think it can really make you happy, as in...giving you a true sense of feeling happy.

I've always wanted less to be rich than to be free of money worries, i.e., how do I pay these bills, do I have to eat Ramen noodles again, etc. Be that as it may, I have a greater sense of security than I used to, mainly due to my spirituality, and am reasonably content. Money is nice, but it's not the be all and end all.

This life is but a vapor, and when it's finished will I measure it by my final net worth, or by how much good I've done in the world? I'd hope the latter. As a believer in an afterlife, perhaps a better way to put it is how will I be measured. I know my actions will have consequences, even eternal ones.

As a Christian(yeah, I'm one of those guys), I'd like to leave you with a bit of philosophy on the subject of wealth or the lack thereof-

"Two things I ask of you, O Lord, do not refuse me before I die: Keep falsehood and lies far from me; give me neither poverty nor riches, but give me only my daily bread. Otherwise, I may have too much and disown you and say 'Who is the Lord?' Or I become poor and steal, and so dishonor the name of my God."-Proverbs 30:7-9

my father in-law is a rich man , he has friends that are even richer than he is . my wife and i would be invited out to the "rich side of town" for gatherings. these people walked around with watches worth more than my car and drove cars worth more than my house and they would all complain. one person that had a 20k watch would complain that someone else had a 50k watch and the husbands would complain about how they wre away all the time and the stress of keeping up with their friends . people with money just want more money it does not make them happy

In my journey thru this life, I have been very rich and very poor.

But my happiest time by far was when I had my youth, optimism, a pick up truck, a dog, and a guitar. I was wealthy beyond comprehension.

Time has changed that somewhat....but my ability to "create" is my greatest treasure.
