Bull S***. We invaded, waging aggressive war on that entire region of the world. Stay tuned, we're not done yet.

Far from it.

No, we're not. We barreling headlong into this and many people think it's just more of those weird countries fighting again. No, it isn't. This is a workup of a trade war that is going to persist until we have a large global winner.

A large global winner? You do realize that although many have tried no empire has ever conquered the entire "world". Its an impossible goal. "Conquering" leaves to many enemies behind causing eventual collapse from within.

Thats why they call it the "ash heap of history".

There is no need to control the entire globe, but at any given point in history there is a leadership that has more influence than others. What I am trying to get across here is that in this time the global leadership is changing and a power struggle has ensued. This power struggle has caused fear and reluctance in the market... a blocking of productiveness, a stalemate that trickles all the way down. many think war will open an opportunity to reset the game, which is really not good. they should simply deal with the transition of power and quit being poor sports. We've got a lot of work to do and they are standing in the way of progress. The work we need to do is not evident by the numbers of jobs but it's true.

They seem to not be interested in stopping their engagement with this attack on allies of iran so if it escalates into a full global conflict, yes, a world leader will rise up from that as the victor... not necessarily world empire.

no one can deny that the US prides itself upon being the global champion. This is the position I am referring to.

They are in danger of losing their status and that's why they are doing this. They will either win this or someone else will. It may take years but if they continue on the same path, this could very well turn into a world war.

Agreed. It is a world war already by the way. Mostly by proxy yet, but the closer the major powers get to each others door step the more dangerous the game becomes.

War, a game some think they can play "just a little bit".

that is the flag of Al_Qaeda. they did believe that Osama Bin Laden was Mahdi and the messiah of humanity. I did not know that Mahdi was an employee of CIA !
how deaf and blind they are.

All I'm saying is that you will never know the truth , you will only know what you watch on TV or a YouTube vid made by someone who wants you to believe what he showed you . How do you that this vid wasn't made by the regime after killing civilians ?

you are only fooling yourself, why dont you go research the incident further before questioning it? you sound like a rebel/terrorist sympathizer. Go to google, and search Khan Al Assal massacre, I am sure you will not find Al Jewzira source, but there are many details.

Syria was on the way to the top before the so called Arab Spring, with people from all faiths co-existing peacefully in a tolerant society, Muslims, Christians, Kurds, Druze..

Today, death is everywhere, the average Syrian just wants to live his life, but is continuously disturbed by the terrorists coming from Turkey and other Arab countries in the name of Jihad, executing Syrian civilians, looting, raping christian, alawaite, and non-sunni women, it is well known as 'Jihad al Nikah' now, this people smear islam and make it appear like a backward barbaric religion.

Nobody wants a Saudi-Style Islamic rule in Syria, nobody except the Salafi of the desert

but US, Saudi, and Turks insist on making Syria into another Somalia/Afghanistan.

Yep yep break out the old GNP charts to justify the jackboot.

The current régime came into power years ago by force. They sow the wind the reap the whirlwind.

This supporting of rebels has more to do with Machiavellian type approach and not so much ideals.

Contrary to popular belief the US is not the world's policeman. Let the Arab countries police their own. We're sick of fighting your wars for you.

With all due respect, but the Arabs didnt come to the US with their aircraft carriers and armies, it was the US that went to them.

Kuwait called us.

Admittedly, we initiated Iraq and Afghanistan (I was against this), but the ultimate goal was the freedom of the indigenous people.

Kuwait, I remember kuwait.... do you remember the Highway of Death?

The Iraqi forces were retreating from Kuwait in compliance with the UN Resolution 660 of August 2, 1990" ......" Activist and former United States Attorney General Ramsey Clark alleged that these attacks violated the Third Geneva Convention, Common Article 3, which outlaws the killing of soldiers who "are out of combat."[9] Clark included it in his 1991 report WAR CRIMES: A Report on United States War Crimes Against Iraq to the Commission of Inquiry for the International War Crimes Tribunal.[10]

Additionally, journalist Seymour Hersh, citing American witnesses, alleged that a platoon of U.S. Bradley Fighting Vehicles from the 1st Brigade, 24th Infantry Division opened fire on a large group of more than 350 disarmed Iraqi soldiers who had surrendered at a makeshift military checkpoint after fleeing the devastation on Highway 8 on February 27, apparently hitting some or all of them

en.wikipedia.org...

There is a lot that happened that day, a lot more than will ever be spoken or admitted to by the US

But I digress...Everyone who is NOT a member of a country who had one or some of their citizens involved in 9/11 has regretted US involvement in their domestic problems... take Libya for an example, Egypt as another. America doesn't have to get involved every time someone says hey... we need your help.

The people who you are helping, in your own words, are also responsible for crimes against humanity.....although everyone who is responsible for crimes against humanity would be in bed together.....so its a no brainer

Why do the Shia support Assad? Because in ruling the people and allowing basic freedom of religion within his borders Assad wins hands down. The minority groups in his country support him because he makes certain they are safe from extremism....

And they still support Assad, and will continue because under him there stays basic freedoms and balance. And not to worry, within syrian borders this is not a sunni / shia war.... the sunni... those who practice the best they can... are also murdered by the "rebels" as seen here at the funeral of the son of this sunni leader...

So Why are you, ask yourself... supporting people like these in this next video?

Do you see a stark difference between the character of those who are against Assad and those for him? Can't at least you have SOME understanding of why the shia are against these extremist rebels and are supporting those minority groups and sunnis and regular citizens of Syria who are in favor of Assad?

Why do you people want to attack this country? It doesnt make sense to me!

The problem is Assad started with the shooting of unarmed protestors starting this entire thing. He did not have to take that path. He thought the Syrian military was loyal and found out that they were not when it came to shooting their own people. If most of the military had not changed sides this civil war would have been over in a week. Of course when the civil war kicked off both sides got support from radical groups. The "regime" is mostly Iranian, Lebanese and Hezbollah at this point with opposition being the deserted Syrian Army and a third group of radicals that fight mostly against the regime but clash with rebels on occasion. It is a lot like Bosnia back before western intervention made all of that pointless. Both sides commit what we in the West call atrocities because we fight wars a different way then they do. Most of the world does not try and reduce casualties when they go to war, that is very American thing adopted by the West. Because the west has the money and the tech to fight cleaner wars. What it comes down to is that without Western intervetion this will be a long war and whatever side wins it will be a weak and target for the radicals.

the regime in Syria is not Iranian, Hezbullah or .... it is Syrian and it existed before revolution of Iran.
the point is that Syria is anti_Israel because Israel has occupied it's lands and many countries are under pressure of Israel in this world.
saying that Assad was responsible of changing unrests to internal war is just sign of unawareness. Syria is a battle of Al_Qaeda, radical Salafists, Human eaters, puppet monarchies of middle east, Israel, Ottoman Turkey......... with people of Syria and resistance against Israel occupation.
neither I ignore the rights of people of Syria nor it's friends and foes ignore it ! we have seen such games a lot. not just in the middle east. a minority people from some parts start a unrest and terrorists are hiding among them. they shoot and attack at security forces and places then with some propaganda and motivating affection of unaware people and ........
soon it turns to an internal war. this is a repeated story of dirty overthrowing.
Israel has started a venture and it is struggling and desperate, they should speak in favor of people and they should prevent that people get power in those countries. people should not get power in the middle east. every popular government is a danger. because people are not friends of Israel !
war will not end with west intervention but it will end when Israel and it's puppets end it. and west will never intervene in Syria directly in the recent future.

completely right. if it was because of sects then they should have called it Alawite_radical salafism war not Shia_Sunni war !
I just wonder how those human eaters can be regarded followers of monotheistic religions !!

Tell the West the truth, nothing but the truth, and prove that it is the truth. Show us the truth. Give us reliable information sources.
I am fed up with all those lies..and this includes Egypt. Fed up with your bloodbath utubes, head cuttings, heart eatings, child corpses...in the end people become insensitive to it.
Only the truth will prevent the world war. Nothing else.Ware always come with lies.

If these massacres are happening in Syria by the rebels or whoever, let the legal government of Syria, which is still under Assad presidency, go and fight and emprison these rebels, to be judged in front of a court the way the nazis were judged. Syria is still a sovereign country, whatever the regime....democratic or not.

If Assad does not stop these rebels, he is also guilty. The same logic applied to the holocaust : all those who knew it was happening (and there were a lot), are also guilty. Fight those rebels...and if he needs Iranian or Russian help, or help from any country, that is his decision and he has the right to take it. Just take the United Nations law.

Truth is most of the so called SFA. fighters are foreign Muslim Mujaheddin ,from Europe and Asia and from Middle east and Chechnya. By calling a Dog a Donkey. the reality would not change. indeed what is going on in Syria is not freedom fighting , it is a violation of international law . violation of human rights. it's a doom and destruction to Christians and Muslims and all others as well. thanks for those who seek truth in ATS .

By the way

This kind of threads trigger me to write a thread but when I try, it goes mistakenly to 2012 forum. Maybe what is happening in Syria is related to the end of this era.

So what are you saying? A Shia source is less valid than a Sunny source?

He's probably saying that every 'source' over there has an agenda and can't be taken as 'absolute' without other evidence to support the allegations.

When it comes to Syria ... Assad and his regime are evil ... and the 'rebels' are terrorists.
The civilian people are stuck between the two with no good choices. I feel for them.
