Remember the British Rail patent for a flying Saucer? Well now the BBC have teamed up with a London Uni, to devise a way to get to, land on and return
to Earth from Mars!
I like the way they plan to avoid extremes of Solar Flares.."The crew would also put whatever they could find between them and the front of the
vehicle to absorb the solar burst." Now what does that remind you of? (Note this is only part of the procedure, so stop laughing!)
They also expect to create a magnetic field to protect the crew.
They also plan to spin the crews craft, to," create artificial gravity within the habitat vehicle". This to minimise muscle and bone losses, which
can amount to 1 to 2% per month. (Not much chance of a 100 month flight then! :lol

What with SABRE and now this the UK seems to be stepping up it's interest in space travel, but why now, when we as a country are so poor? Or are we?
