Hello ATS'ers!

I have a question for you all....

Basically i was doing a bit of reading about the different types of Ghosts/Spirits that are known.
And i came across a list and the last one caught my eye as i have never given it a thought before, Here is what caught my eye

8. Still Living - These people can be dreaming or having an out-of-body experience (obe). In the case of dreams, the person doesn't usually know they're walking around in the form of a ghost. With intentional obe's, the projector knows what's going on but their intentions are generally harmless. I've personally seen my uncle come walking out of his bedroom, look at me and then turn around and walk back into his room even though at the time he was sound asleep in a hospital bed 5 minutes away. He died about a year later.

Once i had some strange dream - I ended up coming from the sky to this garden, never seen this garden/area/house in my life, i went in through the back door and come though the kitchen into the hallway and then i turnt left into the front room where a couple in their 50s was sleeping on of them sofa pull out beds.

I remember one of them seeing me so i ran out of the front room/hallway/kitchen and out the back door into the garden where i tried to fly up again.

With this dream i was aware i was a ghost/spirit in it. it was unlike anyother dream ive ever had and i have dreams everynight and when i have a nap it will be 2 times a day where i will dream.

The house was so detailed and the dream was so real!

And one more....

One night i was in bed asleep and i woke up to my neighbours shouting me and my mum as a big explosion went off and they thought it could have been a gas leak or something ( it ended up being this oil place ) but before waking.. what seemed like a dream - I was hoovering over my bed looking out the window and looking at my neighbours all standing outside of my bedroom window.

So obviously when i woke up to see this i was like omg mum i just had a dream about this...

I know, sounds crazy lol..

What do you guys think? could i of had an OBE or something?

Kind Regards.
Dee.

This is a very interesting topic you touch upon. I have never thought about what you had just pointed out that by having an OBE another may see you and view you as a spirit.

When I was young, I awoke one night to shadow sitting at the end of my bed. The shadow had curly hair and I was positive it was mum just sitting there (it was the 80's when perms were the rage). The hallway light was left on as I hated sleeping in darkness (still do). When I saw her i tried talking to her but my words froze and I could not talk. I kept trying to frantically but it would not happen. Soon after seeing me get frantic, the figure stood up and I remember it gliding down the hallway (towards my parent's bedroom) like she was on roller skates. Just a shadow with curly hair but no feet with what looked like a cape or a dressing gown on her. I eventually started screaming out loud to her then my "real" mum came running out of her bedroom to mine to see what the fuss was about.

Still so very vivid even though this event happened decades ago and definitely not a dream. I often wondered if it was my mum's spirit travelling to sit by me while I slept (thought that was impossible) or another spirit visiting me altogether. After reading your post, I am more inclined to believe it was my mother astral travelling to my room and just happened to see her.

Basically you read a book that was not science.
There are no known ghosts or spirits.

Dreams do that.

Once i had some strange dream -

I've had many strange dreams. I have a hard time remembering any dream that wasn't strange.

WOW
That must have been so creepy to of seen that!!
Yeah it must of been your mum having an OBE and coming to sit with you whilst you sleep. I wonder if she remembers that as a dream or something?

Omg you sound like me, I always have my door open with the landing light on or bathroom as i hate sleeping in the dark!

Take a look at my last topic about my hauntings

I've had very similar experiences, and have mentioned them here on other threads before. I have had many dreams where I float around (somewhat haphazardly) and intrude into someone's house. It's only when they seem to notice me that I feel the need to escape.

This gave me the idea that 'shadow people' might be people dreaming/traveling-out-of-body. In most people's accounts of shadow people, the being inevitably tries to flee upon realizing someone can see it.

I think that part of a deliberate OBE involves projecting some kind of astral-self-image, if only for the sake of self-reference. It makes sense to me that projecting during a dream (somewhat accidentally), one might not consider their own appearance, so they might be represented by a shadowy silhouette.

I do think that dreams and OBEs are closely related; that our consciousness 'goes' somewhere, literally and physically during both. I think certain dreams are like 'channels' (think like a chat-room, or one of those virtual 'meeting places' online) in which we sometimes interact with other 'dreamers'.

Actually you do have a point there and I tend to agree. What I saw looked like a shadow person with permed hair. A lot of shadow people seen are probably sightings of astral projections.

Science has a hard time figuring out a lot of things we mere humans cannot yet understand and, hopefully, one day it will be able to. Paranormal is one of those topics you cannot fathom until you experience it yourself.

Perhaps you heard the commotion while you were still dreaming and your subconscious mind conformed the dream to what you were hearing.
Maybe you have noticed before, but you can sometimes hear things going on in the real world while you are sleeping.

I think it's safe to assume that everyone here is familiar with the mundane possible explanations of dreams and what Bloodsister (and countless others) experienced. The truth is, science knows very little about dreams and the human consciousness in general.

This is obviously a discussion of alternative theories which - in my humble opinion - are no more 'speculative' than those brought forth by empirical science.

This is not to say that dismissive, skeptical input isn't welcome here, but it *could* be why it's largely being ignored.

Yes.. Science IS hard. But we progress. That's the beauty of it.

and, hopefully, one day it will be able to.

Well yes, the track record is promising.

Paranormal is one of those topics you cannot fathom until you experience it yourself.

No, most "paranormal" phenomena can be explained very "normally". The ones that cannot are due to them just being random claims, making it hard to do any science on it. After they become well spread (as paranormal phenomena interestingly do.. in other words, people start experiencing after hearing about it - or being subjected to the same things as those who did experience it). And then the explanation becomes quite straight forward.

So no, there is no such thing as "paranormal".

It's a good thing there are some rational adults around to keep us wee little children from letting our imaginations get the best of us.

"There there, honey, you were just having a nightmare. Yes wittle baby that's what those are called, nightmares. Now go back to sleep.

...Just like me."

This rhetoric is old and tired, and READY to be put back to sleep.

This universe is far stranger than ANYTHING religion, government AND/OR empirical science can imagine, AND THEY ALL KNOW IT. Not only that, but they've all worked in tandem to make sure NONE OF US ever learn just how freaking strange it is.

And people who blindly accept the drek that holy trinity has to offer are the most gullible, child-like of all.

So why don't you just join us in our speculation? You don't know any more than we do. Reminding us over and over again what "the majority believes" just makes you look like a condescending douchenozzle. Do you really think we haven't heard it?
