I don't want to put our private details out there but it was definitely, without a doubt, Mike in the car that night. Mike was not cremated against family wishes or without consent. From what I recall Sgt Biggs was not a particularly close friend nor confidant of Mike's. He was a friend and a supportive one, which of course was appreciated, but no one that anyone in the family would tell or has told anything to. It's been bothersome to see all of this but we've all somewhat accepted the "whatever, let people say what they want" mentality. I just wanted to tell people the truth about someone I loved, from my perspective.

It might do well for a family member to put the fact out there in public and put this to rest then.

Not doubting that you are who you say you are, but the CT community can be a doubting bunch, and there is the possibility that you are someone other than who you say that you are.

My condolences to you on your loss.

Yah, cuz the guys body was in a TINY METAL INFERNO OF DOOM!

Honestly, what did you all expect? For him to be miraculously fireproof?

Man I've so had it with this website and posts on the frontpage like this

That is a photo of a crash dummy. I'm not calling YOU a dummy, I mean that is a doll. A crash doll. That is a photo from a simulation.

Just thought you should know.

Oh, and BTW, his friend already came out and said on twitter that there are false rumors going around regarding the body.

And I've had it with people not bothering to consult EMTs and professionals in their fields because "OMFG! POSITIVE THOUGHT! UFOS! REPTILIANS!"

Either call an EMT in your area and ask them what they think (they'll tell you exactly what I said,) or keep thinking you know everything because "ITS A CONSPIRACIE!"

That photo is of Hastings Mercedes after the fire was extinguished. I don't think I anyone put a crash test dummy in it.

The friend that you referred to has already posted in the thread.

...

Where did you get your information about the "crash dummy"?
I have stepped through the entire video many times...and have arrived at an opposite conclusion.
Likewise, the "evidence" in the video matches precisely what one of the eye-witnesses reported seeing.
Maybe they were in on it, too...

If you're talking about SSgt Biggs saying that there are false rumors going around regarding the body, it seems that his story has changed between interviews (I've watched three - and took notes, while watching).
So - if you can help with clarifying "how you know it was a crash dummy...and that it was a photo from a simulation", and "which tales going around regarding the body, are false", that might help the conversation along.
Thanks.

KN937 I am going to call you on it and say outright that you are NOT a Hastings's family member. Those of us who have been around long enough can very easily spot fraudulent posts such as yours.

As for the Crash Dummy theory posted by teachtaire - it doesn't really matter if its a Photoshopped dummy - a dummy in situ - or even merely the headrest with a fake head attached or a Photshopped version of same -

the main point here is that its NOT the head of Michael Hastings.

Again - I contend that KN937 is posting on ATS in a fraudulent manner. If he person were speaking truthfully then he would have engaged us in a conversation - filling us in on important details - not the least of which would be - is that the head of Michael Hastings in that burned out car?

The curvature of the head and the burn pattern on the car?

They can't sue anyone if his will requested he be cremated. His wife, his mom, god and the baby Jesus can't stop him from being cremated if his will requested it.

Good point, didn't think he could have included it in his will.

That's an attempt at answering one of the questions... For me, it's a poor attempt. Like saying "Popeye" is my favorite cartoon. Almost irrelevant.
That is the same car that was burning through the first minutes of the video. The "crash" characteristics are consistent with the car that was on fire (at the start and throughout) in the front, back and both sides... And they (said characteristics) were too oddly configured for a "replacement vehicle" to duplicate.

Go to my profile and look at my other threads before you dismiss my guesses please, I may not know everything, but you don't know much either.

Considering you registered just to be a supporter of the harebrained theory put forward in this thread, I am going to say you are an account created by the op or another poster in this thread to try and give credence to a ridiculous claim. Those of us who have been here long enough know the tell tell signs of people desperate to give their ridiculous claim credence.

You stated that I joined this thread as a sock-puppet merely to advance the cause of an absurd theory. Really? Does my posting record bear that out? The posts for this thread are marked in yellow - most recent first.

I applaud the admission that you don't know everything...
Wrapped in the fore part of your statement, however, may be the rebuttal to the latter.
I am like you, in that I don't know everything. I, however, am neither ignorant or novice on this topic (which, if you went to "my profile", you might know).
I've had a few good guesses in my life, too.
Please demonstrate the "video-editing" techniques that would be required to either change-out the vehicle (in the LoudLabs 5+ minute video), or present another explanation. (I have heard - 'staged/simulation' from others...).
In order to make such a presentation, you might need to know where various components (of the car) are situated...and what caused them to be situated so, in order to recognize the difficulty in "replacement".
I'm sure it's all well within your reach...and am looking forward to an intelligent discussion on the same (if you are so inclined).

terrellaftermath.com...

www.ncjrs.gov...

I took classes years ago, rather I attended classes that a family member was enrolled in and just listened.

Granted I was a child, but some things stick.

carmanfireinvestigations.com...(Carman&Associates)%20-%20Investigation%20of%20an%20Elevated%20Fire%20-%20Perspectives%20on%20the%20'Z-factor '.pdf

I could keep posting resources, but I've business to attend to.

I'm sorry, I don't mean to be curt or rude, I'll be back.

Thanks for the humor. He's my hero (notwithstanding Popeye, or Goku...)
In conversations with a number of EMTs and Firefighters on these subjects, what has become apparent, is - while their experiential educations are similar - their views and opinions are almost as diverse as the rest of us on given situations.
Another contributor (miner49r) in these forums tipped me off to an article written by someone who had access to actual video (from a surveillance camera) of the crash. He (the article's author) showed it to law enforcement personnel, and military personnel, who said they'd never seen a vehicle "explode" like that. They also, however, did not think the explosion was the result of a bomb or missile.
If you care to read the article, let me know and I'll get the URL.

I had a feeling there would be a response like this. #1 I'm a she and don't want to put my name and face all over things as I don't feel that is my place. It is a decision that will be made when we are ready to. Obviously the impact of Mike's death has been QUITE different on the family than on the interested public. While we clearly want to make sure there was no foul play (which we sadly don't think there was) and would of course want any due justice, that comes second to dealing with the grief and sorrow that comes with losing a young son, husband, and loving brother. That in and of itself is excruciatingly difficult. It should be easy to understand why no one in the immediate family wants to put them self out there right now to have fingers pointed and to argue when it's barely been long enough for us to talk about Mike without crying.

I shudder to think about it but I don't know if that's Mike's head in the car, in the photos. How would I? None of us were at the site of the accident, poking thru the remains. There are significant investigations taking place right now into what happened and whatever comes up will undoubtedly be made public when we have answers. I'm sorry we don't have them right now.

We very much appreciate the support that's poured in from the global community. I, of course, understand people's doubts about the validity of anyone involved in this. There's a lot we don't know. But we do know details about Mike and his life that are private -- he deserves for people to respect that. I'm sorry but I don't want to engage in a Q&A about the details as there's a lot I can't answer, but hopefully we'll be able to soon. Thank you for understanding.

Many of those interested in this story were not familiar with his work before the tragedy.
I have had the opportunity to read a few of his pieces, since, and have been impressed with his ability to tell a story and keep me wanting to read more.
The Internet is a crazy place, where utter strangers jump into each others' lives, like they have a right... For my part in that, I apologize.

Plenty of chatter trying to make readers "move on, nothing to see here" about the Hasting assassination. When they put that much effort into trying to turn you away you ought to know it is very important to them.

The car did not hit a tree, lots of disinformation out there showing a burning car that did hit a tree but it was not Hasting's. His car was destroyed by a car bomb, the engine far from the car, the back end blown out.

Posters would have you think he was intoxicated, I doubt it. I gather he had info someone did not want getting out so they wacked him.

He was badly burned but not cremated, who had him cremated? I'm sure this was to destroy evidence of the bomb.
