I am a conservative and a strong supporter of the US Military, but I am beginning to question our information regarding the "insurgency".

We got Saddam, why can't we get FOREIGN TERRORISTS?

Of course, when you telegraph your intentions for 2 weeks and let 150,000 people slip out of the city...I just am not understanding our tactics...perhaps the Iraqi Military is simply infested w/ insurgents as well.

Yes it is, along with the Iraqi police. Those who aren't insurgents are informants, and the rest suffer the fate of having their stations stormed, or their patrols terminated by a bomb.

Bush, Blair and Alawi have not yet come to realize that the Iraqi people in general have no desire to hunt and kill their own, and for good reason, they all have been through subjugation and the horrors of despotic rulership whereby their people were killed by their own. The tyrant is gone and much of his henchmen killed. They are all survivors now, and hardpressed to turn on their fellow survivors.

I was reading that to the Marines surprise, most of the insurgents are gone. There is a little resistance, and a couple of booby traps, but nowhere near what they thought.

I think the bad guys slipped out, and will just slip back in when the Marines leave.

He's probably smoking a stogy and having a scotch down in Crawford Texas about now, getting ready to head back over in a week or so to stir things up again. The Bush family has had a lot of problems getting regional menu's for him but their buddy Bhandar has helped immensley.

Remember in Boyscouts when you went out on a snipe hunt. Well 15k of our guys just did that all over again.

A dead , one legged terrorist was resurrected to chop the heads off of hostages. A fabrication of facts to justify a war is kept aloft by a fabrication of boogeymen; that's no where near conservative pragmatism....that is cognitive dissonance boardering on group psychosis.

The full weight of the military of the world's remaining 'superpower' is being systematically turned on a country in persuit of small groups.

This is IMO as unnecessary as it is futile.

.....and someone might sit down and start weighing up whether this is actually about the real 'military situation' or about establishing power for those who wish to hold power in Iraq in future....an interim Iraqi 'Minister' has been on UK TV tonight talking about "teaching people lessons in Fallujuh"

I don't know how you can "seal-off" a city, while at the same time allow3/4 of the 200,000 civilian population to flee.

The very fact that they operate in small groups, also allows them to assimilate into the local Iraqi population fairly effectively.

- I know what you mean.....especially as member groups of the interim gov have started to peel away and leave.

I think we really have to wonder whether Zarqawi was ever in Zarqarwi. Telling us all that he was there gave an excuse to flatten the city and it's poor inhabitants.
