need help with a calculation/ math formula

Okay, so I need some help with this :

JDN1 - 2,155,526 ( d2 )

JDN2 - 2,452,164 ( d1 )

Z - 2,456,860

z = ((64*d2)-d1)/63

With the above formula do I obtain Z - 2, 456, 860? Or do I possibly obtain 2,456,850 ?

Not sure if you're noting this correctly. Upper case Z does not appear to be in the problem, yet it is given as a known variable. Also, it would seem you are tasked just with solving lower case z.....correct?

64 * d2 then take away d1 and then finally divide by 63

BODMAS is your friend - start at the inner most brackets and work outwards

Yes, it is a variable, I have to know , with d1 and d2 as written above, and the formula, exactly what JDN I obtain.

* means multiplication in math notation. 2*3=6 for example (2 times 3)

Solving for z (lower case z) in the formula given would mean z = 2,456,872.54
I don't see where Z (upper case z fits into it).

64 times (multiplication)

but looking at it simply its going to be 64 times a number(A) then take away another number(b) and finally divide it by 63 which will give you roughly the number you times by 64 at the start

I just need to know what JDN I obtain with the above formula...Please ( thank you Gazrok/ Maxatoria ) can someone do the calculation for me? I am kinda lost ...

open google and just punch in ((64*2452164)- 2155526)/63 and job done

Is this the entire problem from the assignment? Is there any word context, or any capitalization or other punctuation differences?

I'd give the answer as i see it but sometimes its too easy to do peoples homework for them so at least make them work for their grades to a point

JDN1 was July 12 1191, the Siege of Acre

JDN2 was September 11 2001

Z obtained is August 3 2014

Looks like implicit differentiation of partial derivatives but it's impossible to tell as the correct notation isn't being used.

If it is ID the above methods wont work as you have to let the eq = 0 and solve for JDN1, N2

Math is so dumb. Like you never use any of it in the real world except grade 6 math. Maybe unless your some theoretical physisist. Even they just use calculators and software. Seems like the only thing that can help you in the real world is reading and writing.

Everything is number. All your post demonstrates is you don't know what maths is and the potential it yields.

It's by far the most useful subject there is and can be applied to absolutely anything you can imagine. Learning and reading mathematics are the only way to gain a true understanding of the world and becoming able to deny ignorance.

I have to disagree. I'm constantly finding the need to do math on the spot, and in my head. Sure, I could whip out my cell phone and crunch the numbers, but by doing it accurately, in my head, and faster (for fairly simply calculations like percentages, discounts, etc.), it is FAR more impressive to clients and customers, and buys a LOT of consumer confidence that doing on a calculator just wouldn't offer.

Even just figuring out a tip. Let's say the bill comes up to $86.43. I got ok service, not great, and some mistakes were made, so I want to give a 15% tip instead of my usual 20%. Do I try and figure 15% of 86.43? No. I take 10% of it because it is an easy calculation to do....8.64, then I cut it in half, to 4.32, add the two together, and get 12.96 or a $13 tip for 15%. Of course, this all takes place in about a second or two in my head, so much faster than taking out my phone and doing a tip calculator, and much more impressive and practical.
