Hi.

I’m not crazy or maybe I am crazy, I don't know.

My problem is I see repeating numbers. It doesn’t seem like a big deal and most people wouldn’t even consider it a problem. The numbers I see repeating are on everything from clocks to cash register receipts on signs and everywhere I look.

Sometimes its 3:33 or 4:44 or 11:11 on a clock but then I’ll receive a receipt and it will have the total of $2.22 or $15.15 or some other number that repeats. I'm just giving you an example. This has been going on for the last two or three years.

I do have a sleep disorder, insomnia, and have sought professional support. The thing is I don’t think my sleep problem is related to my number problem.

Do you or anyone you know suffer from a similar……phenomenon?

If you suffer or if you know somebody who is experiencing similar symptoms will you please share your experience and how you solved the problem if you have found a solution?

I used to go to a small cafe every morning and my breakfast and coffee would always ring up to $6.66....it became a bit of a joke between the barista and myself after a while and we just laughed and joked away any negative associations.

I've also had a phenomenon of always seeming to catch the clock at 7:47 and 1:23 all the time, but I'm afraid I can't offer any insight into the phenomenon other than we tend to remember things that we have strong associations to, like recurring thematics or numerical sequences.

Sure is weird, but you're definitely not alone in this kind of thing.

I notice the recurring number, 911...all of the time.

In regards to clocks and such, i think it is just our bodies subconsciously looking at the clock at specific times. A subconscious habit? Our body clock at work? I don't know.

In regards to seeing the numbers outside of the time, i have no theory or answer to that, sorry.

I also have not found a way to rectify these numbers; so i am unable to help you there too. Sorry.

Nothing weird about it at all..............the reason you are noticing them is because they are recurring or significant numbers.

If you had a receipt for , say $12.71, your brain wouldn't compute it as anything but an un-organised random number, when you get a receipt for $11.11 your brain just flags it differently.

Same with any other number you see wherever or whatever it may be.

I'm sure you're right, but why do I focus on specific numbers?

It seems as though the repeating numbers are very frequent. I guess it could be related to the insomnia. I'm trying to figure out if there's a connection.

Because you've made them specific, you probably see hundreds if not thousands of numbers every day of your life, but you've decided subconsciously what numbers or number sequences you perceive to be significant, so every time you see them your brain flags them up as important.

I'll bet you if you asked for and saved every single receipt for every purchase you made over say a month.......you'd notice that the sequential numbers are in the minority, and that you have hundreds of receipts with random number combinations.

Okay, again I'll agree with what you say. My main point of this thread is I wonder what causes me to focus on specific numbers.

I understand that I see tens or hundreds of numbers everyday, most of them I don't even notice. Why is it when I see a specific series of numbers my brain tells me they are significant. It's not a conscience thought but there is something in my head that notices the numbers.

I just wonder what is the trigger.

Could be any number of things I suppose, my guess would be it's a mild form of OCD.

I remember seeing a documentary a few years back about a woman that had OCD, she couldn't walk on the cracks in the pavement, the point is that before she developed OCD she (like most people I'm assuming) wouldn't even notice the cracks in the pavement, however once she developed her OCD she couldn't help but notice the cracks.

I would say that your "problem" is probably something similar...........but I'm no expert

Nope you're not crazy. Pretty much everyday I always glance at the time 4.29 and I see the number everywhere. It's no different than seeing say a red Ford Mustang and then seeing them all over the place regularly.
You just pay more attention to seeing one particular thing so it seems like you see it more.
It could also be the Matrix messing with you...

Oh dear mother of my lawds! Not one of these threads again!

Anyways, i used to sometimes see those recurring numbers too. Its usually when im watching a dvd movie i'd look at the dvd player and see 11:11 or 55:55 or something along those lines. I never thought about it much, just ignored them most of the time.

I would'nt worry, this happens to me all the time, specially the past few days-just about every time that I check the time, its somehour:11,22,33 or 44.Or eg:12:22,11:11,11:22,14:44 etc.

I see folks say it's just selective, you notice these more-but then why I do I not happen to look at the time display on my pc,cell, microwave, etc when it happens to be another time, out of all the remaining times for it to be?There are of course days when there has been a few random time-displays,but on many days, like the past days-i just don't seem to be checking the times when it it's not:11,22,33,44 in the time display.

Anyway,I'm not sure why you see it as a problem, not being snarky, just wondering.I really don't think it's anything to worry about though.

Interesting, the OCD angle-but in my personal case,I am a mother with kids, lots of animals,2 large lawns+garden to keep irrigated during the dry winters we get here, school lunches to pack, dinners to make, housework like laundry+tidying, photography+photo art to create+upload,etc-i just don't have the time for OCD,eg-but still,if I have to give an estimate,I would say 85% of the time see these numbers when checking the time-and then are stages which can last for day, when 99% of the time these are the numbers in the time display,of all the "random" times it could have been.

i think there is a lot of "sense" in what GENERAL EYES has replied here (2nd or 3rd response)

a person tends to notice things they are already "aware" of.. (if that also makes "sense"?)

as for the significance? ..heh.. all things to all people..
