This is creepy, but there's a difference between the laws that are passed, vs those they can actually enforce.

Creepy? This isn't creepy, it's illegal. This (your mentality) is almost case-in-point why we are where we are at the moment. Assuming that these laws are unenforceable. The only laws that are not enforceable are those with such a high level of ambiguity that they can be applied in far too many instances. That is not the case here. The case HERE, is that we don't even know what they are, or by what authority AND there is no oversight.

This isn't a stealth power grab, but the flailing of a desperate leadership.

I find this statement to be REALLY off the mark. The leadership (current Administration) was actually scoring some pretty high marks....not great but high. With all of this, the Snowden chronicles, the DOJ, etc., people are dropping their support by the droves (which is suspicious also yet, another discussion altogether). Why would the leadership need to flail while doing mostly well?

Throughout history other despots have passed similar laws when they were on their last legs.

Again, they WEREN'T on their last legs...not IMO anyway.

Sure, it should be exposed and opposed, but don't see it as an impending police state.

So you don't find illegal wiretaps, secret courts and secret laws being enacted as impending? ... Oh, ok.

Most people working for these guys can't stand them either.

And they don't do anything about it why again? I guess it could be that they think they have too much to lose...

even those with "nothing to lose" still stand to lose their lives...and that is more important than any material possession, societal status, or relationship.

In theory I agree with that. But, in the society we live in NOW? Those things you mention, are PRECISELY what everyone is afraid of losing. They value the material items, the societal status AND relationships far more. So focused on them that, basic rights granted us by the Constitution and those of us who fought for years to preserve them, are being pissed away by these meaningless baubles and those who espouse them.

the people dropped the ball, we failed to keep it. we (collectively) got lazy, and stupid, and allowed the government to do more than it was designed to do....more than it should ever be allowed to do...it stared decades ago, and now there aren't enough of us left to actually DO anything about it.....unless people pull their heads out of their asses, and realize "hey, this ain't right", we're screwed...

You're right. Which is where I joined this thread. Basically, my assumption is that the collective "headoutofassectomy" simply won't take place anytime soon, with the level of importance being placed on the aforementioned.

agreed.

though there is a way to KEEP your material possessions, societal status, and relationships intact, while at the same time, vigorously fighting this bulls**t....and the bitch of it is that is so very simple......

all people need to to do is pay attention, and think....you CAN have it both ways....you can take an interest in politics, and pay attention. and help keep your government honest and in line....and you can also enjoy recreational activities, relationships, and whatever status you might have be it through birth or vocation....

if the two were mutually exclusive, america would have been destroyed decades ago......maybe even a hundred or more years ago..

it can be done...

hell, just participating in spirited debates about politics and the government here, shows that people can, in fact, do it...

NO RIGHT TO KNOW ABOUT SECRET LAWS? Are you F#$KING KIDDING ME?

THE GOVERNMENT IS ELECTED BY THE PEOPLE FOR THE PEOPLE. NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND.

Americans need to WAKE UP and take back their country from the private banks who think they can get away with anything.

Get YOUR OWN CURRENCY, free yourselves of the Monarchy. America never fought off the British. The British merely gave their money to private bankers on the condition that they get to run the country from behind the curtains and pick the Presidents.

Don't believe me? I.R.S is British. N.S.A is British. Who do you think is behind all that? Who do you think pulls the strings behind the curtain? Look at Bush kneeling in front of the Queen. Look at the bloodlines of ALL YOUR PRESIDENTS!!

IT'S TIME TO STAND UP AND FIGHT AMERICA! Civil war if you have to. TAKE BACK YOUR COUNTRY FROM TYRANNY.

NO RIGHT TO KNOW??

Hello, yeah we do for the people by the PEOPLE. Why isn't anyone policing the GOVERNMENT? But really if you want to listen to my sad, boring calls more power to you. Be prepared to be bored. Why not just refuse visas, and intercontinental traffic from 3rd world countries who sponsor terrorism? Close off those countries and let them solve their own problems. Once they kill off all the radicals we can open trade again. Sounds much better than throwing away our rights NSA.
