I. Islam moderates are justifiably apathetic about evil done in their religion’s name because:
a. Tu quoque paradigma – I can find terrible things done by Christians
b. Tu quoque sunergio – Moderates in Christianity don’t do anything either
I wasn't trying to
justify apathy towards violence on behalf of the Muslims. So thats your take on what I said.
I was questioning the oft-parroted idea that
moderate Muslims are apathetic to violence.
My bringing up Christian violence and apparent
Christian apathy towards it, was to question whether the practice of pointing fingers at Muslims for the actions of extremists applies to Christians
as well. That's what this thread was about.
Those other bits about crude oil, your perceptions of Islamic societies regarding women and progress and corruption are tangential and have nothing to
do with the issues presented in the OP. i.e - Regular everyday Muslims being accused of being apathetic to violence carried out by other Muslims...
unless of course, your intent is to bring up something else about Islamic countries. Its the violence, not the corruption and domestic violence that
moderates are taking flak for.
Let me ask you upfront. If a terrorist attack takes place, what do you expect moderates to do about it? And would you do the same if someone from
your group perpetrates a violent act?
Islam is the single greatest guiding influence in the vast majority of the 70 poorest and most violent countries on the face of the planet;
Islam may be a big influence, but care to cite your sources on the bit about the '70 poorest and most violent countries'?
