American among dead as Egypt violence rages on

Well, I don't foresee this unrest dwindling down anytime soon. Although Morsi has stated that the military will not intervene, he may not have too. Sometime earlier this month it was reported that soldiers were being trained in riot control at Fort Hood, with intent on being sent to Egypt ahead of planned rallies.

(KCEN) -- A group of soldiers are preparing for their deployment to Egypt with riot training on post.

They're planning ahead for violent protests or riots and the possibility of protecting the country's border with Israel.

CNN reported today that out of precaution, about 200 Marines are ready to go to Egypt to protect the embassy, citizens. With 2,000 additional Marines on board three Navy warships in the Red Sea, officials said.

The officials both emphasized this is contingency planning in advance of the expected demonstrations to ensure American military assets, including rescue forces, can act if needed. In the event Americans had to be evacuated from Egypt and could not get to the airport due to the unrest, there are about 2,000 additional Marines on board three Navy warships in the Red Sea, officials said.

Having said that, today an American journalist was killed during protests and demonstrations while taking photographs. I'm not sure if this will qualify as a reason to bring in the troops, however it does indicate a possible entryway for U.S. troops into the Egyptian demonstrations for riot control and embassy protection.
