New NASA photo of a geometric rock inclusion -- about an inch across -- is shown at mars.jpl.nasa.gov...

This is why we send eyes out there -- to be surprised and puzzled, even astounded.

I don't have a clue how to explain this, but I'm guessing we'll figure it out.

Best of all, it's all out in the open.

I can tell from here the inclusion is non-sedimentary....and must be fossil....one needs to cut it and look for bio-structure...I say one would find such.!

Clear evidence that Astro boy lives on mars.

Probably a skeleton astro boy.

I've seen astro boy, I know what I'm seeing. That is Astro boy.

Good find. Why wont NASA just admit they've sent the robots up there to kill Astro boy.

Nice find!
It does look very different than the surrounding area .
The surface looks polished and smooth and it could indeed be a fossil.

Well, I think the point here is that this is a true anomaly and not pareidolia. This is the kind of stuff we are there for.

Could be a sign of volcanic activity on Mars long long ago. When rocks are super heated or melted and get air bubbles in them...when they cool, those air bubbles can cause strange looking holes in them. The fact there's no other sign of similar rocks near by, could mean most are covered under a sedimentary layer of dust. The color of the rock doesn't strike me as a layer of patina that forms on fossilized bone....but then, it is not Earth and Mars has a thin atmosphere so.....who knows.

Jim, you do realise that most of the people on here won't follow your link and just start making wild speculations as to what it looks like to them don't you?

Big S&F for not claiming that it's part of a spaceship or a rat...

Reading the article, they don't even seem to know how it was formed : / Thanks for sharing though, I never get tired of looking at Mars/Moon images!
