but he's laying off employees and spending needed money on his wife and kids and that is wrong, no matter how you look at it.

Talk to Boiner and McConnell about the public sector layoffs. No one that knows anything about the economic mess we're in honestly believes that the bizarre European-style austerity strategy that the Congressional GOP has forced on us (through filibusters and other arcane legislative tactics) is NOT the main reason why public sector workers are being laid off. Only people getting paid to blame Obama are blaming him for that.

Osama would pay any amount of some one else's money to take the family to his home Kenya... Have you seen how bad some areas of africa are? There are more than a few countries in Africa, you can't go anywhere with out armed guards if you are wearing shoes, let alone the president of the USA.

You ignore the fact that Africa could add a whole new revenue stream to the American economy which is currently being hoarded by Chinese interests.

Not to mention that it's being prepped for bio-fuel production on a massive scale. That's significant.

I find this trip suspious because of what he needs to take on this trip...

I just pray that the sink hole in Lousiana doesn't blow this country wide open while he's on vacation....

I'm concerned that this will blow while the Obama's are on vacation in Africa...we're put on a state of emergency. The elections are canceled and obama stays President. All in the meantime our country is destroyed by this disaster and we're left for dead. And those that survive will have to decide to follow orders or be sent off to some camp to be gassed...In other words prepare for the worst and hope for the best...stay safe.

I generally stay out of these rant threads. Most people in them seem to actually think you can run a government like a business, and that comparing their own vacations with a major diplomatic outreach like this one is anything but drunk talk in a cowboy bar. It can get pretty frustrating if you take these folks seriously, even though I'm sure that there are a small percentage of them that really believe the stuff they post about this sort of thing.

If a nation was ever actually run like a corporation the result would either be Nazi Germany or Lord of the Flies within a year's time. Within 5 years, there'd be wholesale mayhem in every major city, with the police walking off on it all like they did in New Orleans after Katrina. No one's dumb enough to actually try running a nation as if it were a business. They talk like they would, but when in the job of running it, they know better than to ever try making business decisions in a job like that.

For those that say we need to blame Congress...Let me just say that the President has the power to change his plans. Just because congress will give the okay doesn't mean he has to spend it.

Hes obviously not Teddy Roosevelt is he. In total seriousness ever try to take out a cheetah with an asault rifle they get in to close and there awfully fast. Really dont know why the secret service cant handle a cheetah.wait a minute yeah i do there hung over from the party the night before with hookers.

He doesn't pay near the cost He just has to find out the cost of roundtrip tickets for him and the family coach airfare.Then cost of stay at local hotel not the one he actually stays at he can use the motel 6 if he wants. Then any excursions total cost to Obama maybe 15000.

No, you're putting words in my mouth. I'm not saying its not affected by the family going. What I am saying is that some of the costs that John Doe would have by taking his family on the trip would not be run into as extras on this trip by the President, simply because some of those things are happening anyway, regardless of the family being there. There is certainly some extra cost, but things like the cost of the plane ticket and lodging would not be among the extras. The plane is going with or without them, and I'm going to venture a somewhat educated guess that the same amount of lodging area will be blocked off from non-Presidential visitors regardless of their presence. As I said, extra costs would be things like the cost of transporting the extra vehicles (assuming they cant just squeeze them in with the non-extras), extra activities done specifically due to the family being there, etc. Its not really difficult to separate the costs out like that.

Its not about him, its about the office being held, and the fact that any President would have to pay the same. I'm simply stating above that I do know there are costs that have to be reimbursed, but I do not specifically know EXACTLY which costs those are because I do not have the time or the desire to go looking for those details. If you are concerned about it, at least a limited amount of that information is out there.
