Im all for earthly explanations, but no, it was not a RC anything.

There was NO sound. It traversed a huge amount of the visible sky in seconds. And it was a diffuse orange light, not a number of point sources.

If it was an RC toy it would have had to be very low to appear that fast, and so would have been heard. Let alone that no one would have been able to control it because unless they were in my own garden, there isn't much line-of-sight where I live due to houses and hills.
