Oh NO!! Not Again!!! OK Hit By Deadly Twister... 5 Dead, 50 Injured :-(

Not Again! OK City hit this time. Five dead, over 50 injured!

I don't know how much more these people can take! My heart goes out to all who are affected by these devastating twisters!

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Tornadoes rolled in from the prairie and slammed Oklahoma City and its suburbs, trapping people in their vehicles as a storm swept down an interstate highway while commuters tried to beat it home.

Five people were killed, including a mother and baby killed near Union City. Another person died at El Reno, the first city struck by the storm, said Amy Elliott, a spokeswoman for the state medical examiner. Circumstances involving the other two deaths weren't immediately known, Elliott said.

About 50 people were hurt, five critically, hospital officials said.

Meteorologists had warned about particularly nasty weather Friday but said the storm's fury didn't match that of a deadly twister that struck suburban Moore last week. Violent weather also moved through the St. Louis area, ripping part of the roof off a suburban casino.

This is horrible, how many times are they going to have to deal with this

My thoughts, exactly! How can someone live in an area that is known to have this type of destruction over, and over?!

Yet, they keep rebuilding in the same place tempting fate to have it happen again.
Kinda like those big cities that form at the base of volcanoes which could become active at any time.

I just don't understand.

The truth is that anywhere you go will have its version of this
type of event, blizzards, hurricanes, earth quakes, volcanoes,
flooding, sink holes, tsunami, or any combo of those together,
my heart goes out to these folks but anyone who thinks they
are somehow safer where they live has simply been lucky
to this point, i have been through a volcano, 2 hurricanes, 3
tornadoes and a couple of small earth quakes and many many
floods, ive also lived all over, so really if you love where you live,
just prepare as best you can.

I live in the comfort of the East Tennessee mountains. Not much happens here related to the weather, at least not at the level of living in a place like tornado alley.

That's not to say we couldn't have a major earthquake in this area in the future. The New Madrid fault runs up West TN, so if it ever starts to shake, it could affect us on this end too. But, for the most part, I feel pretty safe in my E. TN mountains.
