The list of keynote commencement speakers at Ivy League institutions for 2013 does not include a single conservative, a recent study authored by the conservative Young America’s Foundation (YAF) found.
Last year, a Campus Reform investigation found that 96 percent of the faculty and staff at Ivy League schools who contributed to the 2012 presidential race donated to President Obama’s campaign. From the eight schools, $1,211,267 was contributed to the Obama campaign, versus $114,166 given to Romney.
Of the top 100 universities listed by U.S. News and World Report, 62 chose to select liberal individuals to deliver commencement speeches, compared to 17 conservatives, according to YAF.
The study, published in Psychological Science, showed that people who score low on I.Q. tests in childhood are more likely to develop prejudiced beliefs and socially conservative politics in adulthood.
College puts you in touch with people from a lot of different cultures and encourages you to keep an open mind about everything.

It has been proven that conservatives tend to have lower IQ's than the rest.

Red is liberal, blue is conservative? Well, that's kinda backwards.
And no, academia is not "socialist," just that people with advanced degrees and more intelligence tend to...lean left.

I'm not surprised at all. Welcome to 95% of the colleges in America.
I had a really good friend all though high school and after the first year in college she went from being a nice, hard working person to an outspoken argumentative annoyance. Guess what also changed? Her political views. She couldn't be more liberal, and that's the basis of her rude attitude. She even admitted it. She dislikes this country now because she's been "taught" about how bad employers are, how our government doesn't provide us with enough.. etc.. She wants more money but doesn't want to work for it, thinks loans should be free.. Hates guns i could go on and on
I really wish she would have been a stronger person, it's hard for me to even be around her anymore because she always finds a way to argue something politics. (and we do not see eye to eye at all in that territory) Although during the summer when she comes home and visits, i do try my best to open her eyes to the evils of our government. I actually think some of it might be sticking but oh well.. all you can do is try.
I really don't believe the "liberals" of today are actually anything like the liberals 100 years ago. By definition the ideology is founded on liberty, or the right to be free. They supported the free market, limited government and political freedom. The group today just wants the government to be huge, to control everything and provide everything. They want restrictions on what they don't like or dont think is safe. Where it will take us i have no idea.. I guess i got lucky my SO spent six years in college and now works as a satellite systems engineer for raytheon. She never changed or adopted any liberal beliefs.edit on 5/23/2013 by JackBauer because: (no reason given)

Nope, that describes me yet i fail to lean "left" you are a judgemental bigot. you are judging people based on their political stance, which tend to be more a product of environment than self actualized.

The colors have swiched before. The democrat/progessives from earlier in the century of socialism were red.
When Republicans were Blue and Democrats were Red

Nowadays the center is left, so leaning left is very, very close to socialism.
Academe is something of a meritocracy, itself, but its income is butterred by the centralised socialistic State.
Academia supplies the persons manning the beaurocratic, legal and political infrastructure. The infrastructure grows, ostensibly to get more of a good thing, and increases the demand for socialistic graduates.
A socialistic academia is required to run a socialistic state.
