A remodeling job in Oregon that went hilariously wrong.

This story is days old but I didn't find anything when I searched for it.

The events of May 4th in Oregon sounds like a comedy script for the next Three Stooges remake.

A worker remodeling a vacant home was a little chilly that morning and decided building a fire under the carport was a good idea. After catching the carport on fire another good idea jumped into his coworkers head. He jumps on the excavator and attempts to pull the burning carport away from the home. He successfully pulls the carport over catching a 120 foot Douglas fir tree on fire.

What do they do now?

Grab the chainsaw and start cutting down the tree. The burning tree then lands on the house burning it to the ground.


Good news: no one was hurt.

Firefighters say things got out of hand last weekend after one of three workers arriving about 6 a.m. for a house remodeling job south of Florence built a warming fire in the carport. KCST-FM reports the fire spread, so another worker used an excavator to knock down the carport and try to pull it away from the house. Sean Barrett, fire marshal for Siuslaw Valley Fire and Rescue, says that didn't help, and the blaze then spread to a Douglas fir tree. So, Barrett says, a worker grabbed a power saw to cut down the 120-foot-tall tree, which fell on the house. Barrett says firefighters arrived but were unable to save the structure, which had been vacant and was valued at $38,000. -- The Associated Press

It's almost impossible to hire competent help anymore.....

Someone's career just came to a screeching halt.
You can't plan that much bad luck in one incident.

Out of three workers you might think one of them would have spoken up and said "Wait, I don't think that's a good idea."

They can now advertise as a 3 man wrecking crew.

Thanks OP I needed that.Its like having not 1 but 3 Inspector Clouseaus in one place!Actually why should we send thousands of troops anywhere when we could just send these guys.Think of the destruction they could cause in no time.

Although it's not a lot in terms of house prices I bet the homeowner thinks it's a lot of money.

To you maybe, to them it may have been their only home and perhaps put everything into the remodel. It is all relative, me thinks.

That is too crazy. I would have loved to have a video of that to send in. I hope they had contractor's insurance and paid up. Of course, they may never get insured again. I would have liked to hear this brilliant one explaining what happened to the fire and police responders. Not to mention whomever he was doing the remodel for.
