So about a week and a half ago I was happily surfing along and all of the sudden virus scan blows up. I get hit with like a dozen viruses all at once. So I clean them out and restart the computer and open IE. Nice, my browsers been hijacked to a porn site. That wouldn't be so bad, but when I type anything in the address bar it takes me to some site trying to sell stuff. I can't fix these problems...the registry was changed. When I deleted the things in the registry they came back. Habib at tech support was no help so I just turned it off and here it sat idle until I found someone that could fix it and do it for free. This caused me great inconvenience as you can imagine......not to mention I missed some of the busiest few days ever here at ATS.

I'm directing this at all you little hacker #s, I'm sure a few of you are around here. If I ever meet someone and I find out you do such things as what happened to me, you steal CC numbers, whatever, I'm going to break your hands. I don't care if your 14 years old, I'm still going to break your hands.

If you use a handle like "Neo" or "Morpheus" I'm going to break your legs too. And an even worse fate will befall those that incorporate the numbers 69 and 420 into it, or even worse 69420.

Everyone else have a nice day!

Can I watch ? - looks as if it could be entertaining

I'd dump IE and download Firefox if I were you. I've had far fewer viruses since I did that.

The worst thing about having your browser hijacked, is that they always send you to odd sites. Stuff that no one would like. It can't be just normal porn, it has to be something stupid like ILoveOldLadiesInArmyBoots.com

That and 1,000 links to online casinos.

Just because of your recklessness of using IE and getting a few bugs, that werent written by "hackers", but mostly by programmers being paid, and the bad actual viruses and trojans would be illegally made.

Im not exactly sure where "hackers" plays into all this...??

Dump IE and Switch to FireFox, never had any viruses, iv NEVER had a worthwhile virus in my life, i feel so left out.

Hackers and malicious programmers fit the same bill in my book. I realize that's probably not by definition correct, and I knew someone would call me on it. I've had people get into my email, steal passwords and stuff like that before, I suppose I should have added that. This was just the straw that broke the camels back I guess.

I just downloaded firefox and like what I see....thanks for pointing me in that direction Pisky and dreamland.

A true hacker enjoys the complexity of reading/changing and improving the code of a program.

so called hackers that write viri have nothing in common with true hackers

This might give you a little info on what a hacker really is

dictionary.reference.com...

"hacker ethic

1. The belief that information-sharing is a
powerful positive good, and that it is an ethical duty of
hackers to share their expertise by writing free software and
facilitating access to information and to computing resources
wherever possible.

2. The belief that system-cracking for fun and exploration is
ethically OK as long as the cracker commits no theft,
vandalism, or breach of confidentiality.

Both of these normative ethical principles are widely, but by
no means universally, accepted among hackers. Most hackers
subscribe to the hacker ethic in sense 1, and many act on it
by writing and giving away free software. A few go further
and assert that *all* information should be free and *any*
proprietary control of it is bad; this is the philosophy
behind the GNU project."

I'm glad someone finally stepped in to mention this little fact.

True 'hackers' offer the world some of the best programs, including the ones you should be using to ward off such attacks. It really sounds like you're a sitting duck! If you're having that many problems, then try using a Linux based operating system or get some serious Hacker Eliminator programs.
