Why Fire Hose Page slowness?

Almost always the Fire Hose page is extremely slow to open for me. Yesterday, I went away from the computer while it was supposedly trying to open and came back an hour later and it was still trying to open with the circles spinning, etc.

I can understand that with savvy users that it is the place to go when you log on, but why isn't that backed up with sufficient servers, etc.? I've found that when it doesn't open fairly quickly that if I then do some arrow work of shifting pages that it seems to come up more quickly than if I merely wait. What is going on?

Basically, I'm asking what can I do to not have this tedious wait and dread every time I want to back out of a thread and return to the Fire Hose page. It is more than annoying. If this problem happened elsewhere, I would be long gone to an alternative site. But ATS is ATS, a one-of-the-kind place.

(I don't believe this is my personal computer's problem. This is the second machine on which I've noticed this problem and it is not puny. This is an on-going problem that has existed now for years. Please don't recommend using the Home page. That is virtually useless for recent news and topic spread.)

It's just the way it is because of all the adds and tracking cookies and stuff. If you are willing to pay for superfast Internet depending on your location, you should have no problems.

I just go to the new topics page, and if I haven't been on for a few hours then I'll go to the fire house to get caught up.

Ya same here
So went it finally up I just open the thread in a new Tab which negate the firehose option

But then again sometime the firehose page does not refresh for me for 3 to 6 hour at a time
even went I hit F5 refresh and some time even more

It as if there forcing you to go read every thread
Got so bad a few day ago that I went back to GLP for a few hours this place is getting useless

My connection speed doesn't seem relevant except when everything is slow. I have bottom tier DSL and only notice the problem where stated, not elsewhere.

The "refresh" button is worthless. I've found that if I want updates on pages or even threads sometimes, the fastest way is to close out ATS completely, log in again, and maybe find several updates that were not there a few seconds earlier when I hit refresh.

Ya really starting to think it has to do with them controlling when and what we get to see
controlling how a page develop them making sure they have controlling asset in place before the thread
get to wild or out of control

Remember the NSA is one of the biggest and closest friend on here
