Do you miss your old house?

I'm in the process of selling the house were i grew up and moving in to a new one in a different part of the city. i have good (childhood mostly) and bad memories (losing my granny in 2008 and my father last year). I think it will be sad to see someone buying it and living in it,it's a very personal loss but it also means a brand new start and a new adventure.

Do you guys miss your old home, feel nostalgic or ever regret moving to a new one?

Never. Home is a feeling, not a place.

I have to admit, I do.

My dad was a fixer upper.

You know, "Tim the Tool Man".

The new owners who bought the house after I grew up in it, let me walk around my old house. And they did make better renovations to it.

It was like kind of cool

It was like walking through a time machine.



You have to try it sometime.

I do miss the house I grew up in; I spent many years there; but as time has passed and I have grown older and experienced more of life I realize now that it is not so much the place I miss; what I really miss are the people and the memories that happened there. I have to come to realize those memories are deep in my heart and soul and I carry them with me wherever I go.

So...as you leave the house you are in now...all those precious memories will go with you to your new house; where you will create more memories.

I miss my old house. Haven't lived there in years! Probably close to 10 years or so. But I still have dreams about living there. They're just as vivid and that sense if "home" is ever present. I see it occasionally as I pass by or I am in the area and I always wonder what it'd be like living in it still.

Fortunately, I have the blueprints and I've considered building a house just like it elsewhere. But, something feels wrong about that. Like, it'd be taking something that doesn't belong to me. It's weird I guess, it feels like the house had its own personality. I do miss that place...

Yeah

I took Mrs C to the house I was born in, my granny's house rest her soul.

We spoke to the current owners and explained that all my generation of the family were born in the front bedroom and they were kind enough to allow us to have a look.

I told them about the time as a child Mr Garey next door lifted up on his shoulders so as to allow a better vantage point to see a foal born for the first time in my life and many other memories.

It was weird to think that the fortress I visited so often as a child was actually a tiny terraced house.

The current owners were so pleased to hear some of the history and listen to my memories
Thank you young man for bringing love to our home, was what they said as we left.

I damn near cried, but then I'm a big wuss

What's weird, someone you don't know, walking throughout your house. But, they allowed me too.

Crazy. It brought back memories though.

The current owners aren't ghosts, and neither were the previous owners.

My parents still live in the house I grew up in. I live in another state, but whenever I visit, it feels like I'm coming home. Of course, I feel that way about where I live now, too.

When my parents move on, I would love to buy the house and settle there. Don't know that its feasible, but that's what I wish.

I even miss the house my grandmother lived in while I was growing up.

I think its just nostalgia, a way of associating the good memories with a particular place.

I do... I was born on a beautiful 77 acre farm in Ohio. Many years later, I went back to visit and the house had burned down... It's mostly the memories I missed, but here it is 40 years later, and I still have them.

I miss our last house because it was so freaking beautiful and brand new. Not many memories there, but I loved the place.

I'm happy here, though. Making new memories.
