Suggestions for a good read?

Does anyone have any good suggestions on some good medical, controversial books. I recently read "Never be sick again" by Raymond Francis and really enjoyed and found it helpful also.

A very good book written by someone who was in the machine for some time. It can be a little dogmatic at times but I found it to be less skewed and open minded than some others I have read.

Murder by injection, by Eustace Mullins.

This guy is pretty much the source for EVERY single conspiracy theory known to man. Federal reserve, vaccines, you name it, he covered it first, usually before 1991.

This book is all about the history of the medical field in the US.

His work is very well researched.
I'm not usually one to believe the vaccine conspiracy, but this book is the ONLY one that actually makes me question it. But again, the book is about MUCH more than vaccines. It's about EVERYTHING related to the medical field.

Depending upon your bend, I suggest Death to Dust: What Happens to Dead Bodies by Kenneth V. Iserson, MD. It tackles everything you ever wanted to know, and some you didn't, about death. It covers medical, historical, even cultural and religious topics about death. It's quite entertaining. I first read about it from a review in Discover Magazine, in their humor section. It confirmed my wish to not be embalmed.

And because this is ATS, I also suggest you read "Voodoo Histories: The Role of the Conspiracy Theory in Shaping Modern History by David Aaronovitch. It shows how just about every conspiracy out there is just a retread of past stories, updated with the new bad guys. It's very enlightening.

The Scalpel and the Soul. By Allan J. Hamilton

I think it was published in 2010, Penguin Books.

It is a very interesting read about the personal experiences of a Brain Surgeon.

Dune by Frank Herbert. Best book EVER..if you like science fiction.

Anyone know any good books about alchemy?

i found a 'medical book' that was published in like, 1869, or so.
it's buried somewhere in storage, but made for really intresting reading.
i remeber it talked about the electrical currents of the body, among other things.
if you can pick up some 'old stuff' somewhere, you might give that a try.
