Short answer; No, ET (or ED) is not here for our gold...or water, or any other mineral deposit.

It has been estimated there is MORE gold and other precious minerals that have to date been mined on Earth on a single 'good sized' asteroid from either of the main belts in and just outside of our Solar System.

Resources are everywhere. Water and water ice is everywhere. Precursor molecules that are required for building blocks for DNA are being found in our System (Titan, Mars and probably everywhere else) and in distant star systems and nebulae...the significance of which depends on ET or ED's level of bioengineering technologies, but could be a method used to harvest and produce proteins for food (if they use food and not some other method to get energy for their bodies)

They're not here for our water, our gold, our 'meat' or anything else...perhaps they love our music or our cultures.
