"We're not taking [CISPA] up," the committee representative says. "Staff and senators are divvying up the issues and the key provisions everyone agrees would need to be handled if we're going to strengthen cybersecurity. They'll be drafting separate bills."

Sen. Jay Rockefeller, D-W.V., chairman of the committee, said the passage of CISPA was "important," but said the bill's "privacy protections are insufficient."

Good news but not great. As stated above separate bills are being drafted, who knows how many. While it appears that the Senate has privacy in mind we should remain vigilant and watch for every bill that pops up and go over each with a fine tooth comb because as is all too frequent, what a politician says and what they do are two very different things.

It's important to ask as well, that similar to all authoritarian measures will any cybersecurity bill achieve much of anything but more hassle, more loss of liberties for law abiding people? If terrorists and evil doers are doing their organizing on the internet, unless they're stupid... they aren't doing it on social media, they're doing it outside of the 'regular internet'.
