Linking to the source is not cooperating for some reason.

The training center external Hemisphere School for Security Cooperation formerly known as the School of the Americas has been ordered by a California Judge to release the names of graduates who had attended the school.

This school has been discussed here on ATS in the past. It is most notorious for being tied to South American dictators accused of human rights violations. As well as training in the use of death squads.

The school is located on a military base, Ft. Benning in Georgia.

I think it will be interesting if the list of names actually gets released.

I am posting this from my phone, which is quite a pain in the butt so if anyone can provide any further sources or information, I would appreciate it.

Link seems to be gone but found this from the NY Times and The Hill that may be related from April 7, 2013 and April 23, 2013, respectively.

www.nytimes.com...
thehill.com...
(Purported--looks pretty legit) judgment: soaw.org...
Court doc from 2012: www.leagle.com...

Very, very interesting both in subject and in the fact that the OP link disappeared and it's not getting heavily reported.

Thanks for sharing he extra sources.

Apparently the names of the graduates used to be released publicly, but that was ended during the Bush administration. Now Obama's administration is arguing that releasing the names would result in harassment and violence toward to students.

You're welcome. I hate it when news stories disappear. I can see the rationale behind the Obama administrations thoughts on the matter but also the public's right to know. On one hand, the public needs to be informed if Joe Blow attended the school. However, how many people are going to look to see if Joe even attended? Not many at least not until they do something that provokes another to look for that information. As always though, I side with transparency and accountability. Things that are done in the dark have a greater chance of being of questionable ethics--if they were not questionably unethical, then why would they be done in the dark?

I agree.
And wasn't this supposed to be the most transparent administration ever? Seem like the same old song and dance we all ways get.

Here is a short video about the school.

And here is the original Source I was trying to link to.
