As much as I love DrudgeReport.com, it just seems these days that ATS is pretty much a copy of Drudge. I go on Drudge daily to look at the news, and then check out ATS. I can hardly tell the difference anymore! I think it would be cool if we as ATS'ers cut back our Drudge re-posts by.. hmm.. at least 50% lol, and start focusing more on the 'above top secret' types of topics: Illuminati, Reptillians, UFO's, and other crazy and interesting things on here. Whatever happened to the guy looking for Bin Laden's body? Or, what are the new finds on the inner earth theory. Haven't seen too much coverage on the 'universe is a computer simulation' thing either

I'm not asking ATS'ers to change themselves. I like ATS just fine, but wanted to suggest posting some less mainstream news topics. Heck, I could even go for some more science/science news posts. Does any agree with me?

Cheers,
Kubby

Members do use other sources as well, and those sources often are repeated throughout other websites.

But Drudge doesn’t refresh his page as fast as ATS does with new articles. Thanks to the members for that.

From what I have seen though, many conspiracies/investigations have been rehashed numerous times and it is hard to find new source material.

I'm guilty of posting articles I read on Drudge and Huffington here on ATS. I smile sometimes because I'll visit Drudge in the morning and by the late afternoon most of the stories are posted on ATS.

I wonder if it ever works in reverse? Does the Drudge staff visit ATS and then post stories they find on this site?

I think Tdawg hits part of it and it's why I've often had Trending (before recent troubles it seems) up in another window as a regular thing, if not a fairly regular refresh of recent topics. ATS beats Fox and CNN ..sometimes even Wire services ... on major stories by 5-15 minutes just often enough to be well worth a bit of excess screen area. It beats wasting a perfectly good 36'" monitor as a TV for one of the cable news channels in the background. lol

The other thing I'll say flat out and honestly as one of the more prolific contributors here myself.in recent months. Some won't like it, but tough cookies and it is what it is.

Posting the more fringe and in many ways, interesting topics is like chum into the water sometimes these days. Atlantis, Other possible civ's like it but of different names and locations, space / moon topics which aren't along the right lines of thought by some's views, Paranormal outside the 'mainstream' such as it is for that subject....? All of those are like an invitation for the folks who think this is politics all the time or that it's Science.com and if there isn't hardcore proof, skeptic isn't enough. Outright squashing is required.

If that eased up around those more colorful and wild topics ATS has many forums set up just for? I'll also outright say I would post more that way and I'm betting it's a fair guess to say I'm not alone among the busy contributors.

Yea I posted a topic yesterday that I thought would be right up ATS's alley. It got very little attention and yes I was actually very dissapointed. So yea I definately agree that posters think ATS is the place to race to post the most current news and events. Hell it even goes as far as people even making comments like "Allready posted" when it's a lame story anyway. Go figure?

Right. If you get the already posted response then you know it's way too mainstream.
Sometimes I think we worry too much about 'S&F' but i guess everybody wants attention and wants to be popular it's just human nature.

Well I wasnt out for the S&f's I was actually hoping to get more disscusion and peoples thoughts. I don't go after the "big" thread getter stories. But once in a while what i find might be a gem and fun topic turns out as mush.

No you misunderstood. I wasn't saying you were looking for stars and flags, quite the opposite.

For example did you notice how many times the Boston attack was posted today? I counted at least three threads that were started on the same subject within a few minutes of each other. It's like everybody wants to get the big story first.

The star whores... Yeah, some even get upset when you tell them there is another thread on the same subject.

I'll just pick my favorite star jockey and 'ignore' the rest.

Back when I joined ATS, it was about crazy, need to put on your foil hats, type of stuff.
...what happened to that fun stuff?

I agree- I also noticed the old big posters rarely post now. The top 10 seem to be asleep.

What's a drudge report? Is that like some 60 Minutes thing for conspiracy theorist? Is it something like the Pulitzer Prize winning Denver Post? If it's like Johnny Quest, that would be totally awesome dude! I do know one thing about ATS, if your gonna spend time using up electricity, ATS is a much better place to do it than some crummy old website that has the word 'report' in it. Drudge sounds a lot like a guy named 'Morbo, the news monster', he's always cranky all the time too !

Nailed it.

Heaven forbid you stumble across some (new to you) enigma and want to start a dialogue about it on ATS. It's like waving a red flag to a bull. The worst part isn't the criticism, which after all is part of learning, but the downright meanness of said criticism. It's like a murder of crows.

Maybe your thread didn't take off simply because of bad timing. Overshadowed by the Boston news.

For the record, I found it very interesting. So give it some time...people will read it.
