Mark Twain was a Satanist of the highest order.

Really? I hadn't heard that.
Does anyone have any reliable info on this??

Defacto!

The most reliable info will always come from the source, all of the following quotations have flowed from his pen.

“I cannot see how a man of any large degree of humorous perception can ever be religious - unless he purposely shut the eyes of his mind and keep them shut by force”

"Creed and opinion change with time, and their symbols perish;
but Literature and its temples are sacred to all creeds and inviolate."

“Man was made at the end of the week's work, when God was tired”

“The dog is a gentleman I hope to go to his heaven, not man's”

“Heaven is by favor if it were by merit your dog would go in and you would stay out. Of all the creatures ever made man is the most detestable. Of the entire brood, he is the only one that possesses malice. He is the only creature that inflicts pain for sport, knowing it to be pain.”

“If I cannot swear in heaven I shall not stay there.”

“If I cannot smoke cigars in Heaven, I shall not go”

“You can go to heaven if you want. I'd rather stay in Bermuda.”

“Heaven for climate, hell for society.”

“. . . there warn't anybody at the church, except maybe a hog or two, for there warn't any lock on the door, and hogs likes a puncheon floor in summer-time because it's cool. If you notice, most folks don't go to church only when they've got to but a hog is different.”

“I deal with temptation by yielding to it”

“Man is the religious animal. He is the only religious animal. He is the only animal that has the True Religion - several of them. He is the only animal that loves his neighbor as himself and cuts his throat, if his theology isn't straight. He has made a graveyard of the globe in trying his honest best to smooth his brother's path to happiness and heaven.”

“I found out that I was a Christian for revenue only and I could not bear the thought of that, it was so ignoble”

“Eternal rest sounds comforting in the pulpit well, you try it once, and see how heavy time will hang on your hands”

“What is human life The first third a good time the rest remembering about it”

“Do your duty today and repent tomorrow”

“Lord save us all from... a hope tree that has lost the faculty of putting out blossoms.”

“In God We Trust. I don't believe it would sound any better if it were true.”

“Man was made at the end of the week's work, when God was tired”

“One of the proofs of the immortality of the soul is that myriads have believed it - they also believed the world was flat”

“Some men worship rank, some worship heroes, some worship power, some worship God, and over these ideals they dispute, but they all worship money.”

“The only people I know who still believe in hell are the ones who had the proper kind of upbringing”

“To create man was a quaint and original idea, but to add the sheep was tautology”

“Satan hasn't a single salaried helper the Opposition employ a million”

“Sacred cows make the best hamburger”

I myself should probably follow some of his other words more closely...

“Never tell the truth to people who are not worthy of it”

“You shouldn't try to teach a pig to sing. You waste your time and it annoys the pig.”

That being said... The notion of praying for satan is the most "Christian" thing I've heard come forth from a religious tongue.

I could hug you for these paragraphs…

Oh? And yet people call themselves God-fearing...they say fear of "God" is kind of expected. I mean, isn't there a fear of hell in there somewhere? A fear of possession, a fear of temptation, a fear of failure...a general aversion to all imperfection. All symptoms of trial and error. There's a lot of people who don't take it too seriously, which relieves me in the hope that they will begin to discover the power of embracing the shadow. As I've said before, there's a shadow for every candle, and studying the shadow will reveal more about the light. And in the inevitable days when the candle doesn't seem to shine so brightly, you can face the shadow without fear because you know exactly what it is and have made peace with it. In this way, you will know exactly what to do because you now understand the interaction between the currents of your soul. You've extended your awareness beyond just the stuff that makes your existence tolerable.

But those who continue to cling to the rock, to fight the flow of the stream, will be battered by the dance of the universe. The nature of the universe is motion, and those who try to live in one age forever will eventually be crushed. Every great empire has fallen, because nothing lasts forever. Everything is immersed in the flow. But then again, every study of such things is rooted in pagan culture and mythology, so it's instantly considered Satanic and discarded. It's amazing what a little prehistoric plagiarism can do for you.

So yeah. A cult of fear is a cult of death. You'd be amazed how many people "God" killed in the Bible. I believe he's the equivalent of about four Hitlers. Get four of them in a row and you have the approximate summation of the atrocities credited to the almighty. Pretty impressive, isn't it? And then he declares himself ruler of our world just because he created us. Don't we get a decision? I mean, we get to choose our governors and presidents, why can't we choose our god? Let one of your archangels take the wheel. Retire. Hell, if it bothers you that much, set up a reincarnation cycle, Avatar style!

Why should we be immersed in god's splendor and have any fear in our hearts whatsoever. Sound's a bit self defeating and debasing of any true god. I have only a love of life, balanced by a hatred for those whom defile it.

In saying you are satan, I meant to imply that reality and life itself, we ourselves, are the product and source of that balance between the carnal and idealistic. My god is not dead, he is typing this message to you, whom are also god and the devil in one. Our exchange is our godhead so to speak, being perpetuated by the division of our unity. We could not converse if not for the illusion of separateness. We all want to extol one side of ourselves over the other, in spite of ourselves whom are essentially the unity of these opposing forces.

We are in agreement, as in "reality". What exists is the collective agreement of the illusion of our perception.

lol this thread is hilarious, I was expecting some interesting discussion but all I see is ignorance of the lords message.

How very insulting of you.
And if this isn't interesting for you then no one is making you post .. just move along ....

The thread is very simple. Mark Twain asked 'who prays for Satan'.
So I asked the question .. does anyone pray for Satan.
And I said that I don't because I don't think it would do any good.

If any of you actually understood the bible properly you would know that anyone can seek forgiveness, even Satan.]

And he doesn't seek forgiveness ... by his behavior we know that he hates God and fights him. So the question is ... do people pray for Satan? Do they pray that he will 'change sides' or whatever ....

I think the ones in Heaven do... I think they are disheartened by someone they know doing what he/she is doing especially when that one has knowledge of what we don't fully see. I also think he has a purpose, but he oversteps the parameters set for him. I also think he will never turn around

I think Mark Twain is really prodding the truth that might have been lacking in his days and that is unconditional love.

Do I pray for him? No, but that goes against blessing your enemies. Should I? Possibly when I am more mature and have more in-depth knowledge of what transpired eons ago.
