There's definitely a connection I think...
I usually sleep upside-down(For some reason), meaning my head is where my feet should be and it almost guarantees a Sleep paralysis/Nightmare each
night. Even now as I type this I just woke up from one.
...And I agree with one on the poster that said not knowing what's behind you, at least in my case, has a subconscious effect. I still sleep that way
though
