For all you gamers out there... I'd like to know what game you play and regularly return to?

These are special games to you, a game you've been playing for years...

For me its not usually a console game... I've always been a computer gamer...

The "Total war" series is one I always seem to return to... I've been playing Medieval Total war 2 for a long time.

And im waiting on the new one...

Astral Masters is a game I've been playing for 5 - 6 years now...

Its a more streamlined version of Magic the Gathering... IF you like fantasy cards, I would check that out...

Elements is a similar game, and its free...

What game have YOU been playing for as long as you can remember...

And how do I try it?

stars for replies!

Yes im bribing you...

I really like Eve online (www.eveonline.com...) or The secret World (www.thesecretworld.com...) they are both very complex and take some devotion to achieve leveling and have a in-depth storyline. Eve is a space game and the Secret World is what ATS users would love with secret societies and missions in a end of days scenario.

Looks interesting... but I would never pay to play a game... I'll buy it once, but if theres a subscription... I'd never play it.

Are there free servers like in Warcraft?

Well games I have played, removed, put back on again and repeated? Doom (I'm a sucker for the classics), Half Life: Team Fortess, and Half life games in general since the week the first Gordon Freeman spawned at Black Mesa.

Command and Conquer series is one I've played the same games from again and again. Particularly C&C Red Alert 2 and C&C Generals. I don't do online on those games because I like to take an hour or two and just play it like a big sim with shooting. Kinda like a real war goes ...until I get tired of that and by then, I have about the max the game can reasonably handle for every unit and smash the enemy bases into tiny flying bits of goo and gore,

Battlefield Vietnam was absolutely addictive for a couple years with how the co-op mode was run on a couple servers. Gotta love the helicopters to fly with such realistic physics and devilish AI to fight against. (Boo on the super-duper Viet AA rocket "snipers" from half the map away tho. lol )

and I think I'll be playing both Far Cry III and Just Cause 2 for months to come. I love the wide open, play however I want type games.

* Oh..and I've built characters 3 different times in Anarchy Online. totally separate times.. Something about that MMORPG just works for me. The price is right too of course... lol but the added content makes the game too.

I've always been a huge fan of Dungeon Keeper 2. I always seem to come back to it, even though it's not very stable on modern systems. When I first started playing it just sucked me in. I've been a gamer for years and have a fairly large collection though none have stayed with me quite like that one.

Great thread and I'm curious to hear some of the games people have played. Maybe I can even find a little gem that I've missed!

The Elder Scrolls.

"Oblivion" is just amazing. (I haven't played Skyrim, no xbox360 and my pc can't handle the specs.)

If you enjoy Dungeons and Dragons type games you'll love it.

Actually I own Oblivion... lol

I haven't got into it very much though... I think MMO games ruined me for RPG... I haven't got far yet but I've found that though the graphics are nice, the world seems dead... Theres no "life" to it... Even in games like fable where the designers try to mimic a lively world its just not the same...

Im used to having people around me at all times in games... Played warcraft for 5 -6 years, and Neverwinter nights before that... And im also waiting for Neverwinter MMO which will be out this year...

I played DDO for a while too, and once in a while I go back to that... I've played tons of MMO's... but that genre has gone stale...

FPS is boring for the most part... Theres just too many of them...

I always try to find original games, or something that's just addictive...

I'm sorry but your subjective opinion is wrong.

Morrowind is the objectively superior game.

You think? I only scratched the surface of Morrowind, maybe I'll give it another go.

Have you played Skyrim?

yup... Elder scrolls online...

Though that will fall into the pay to play category... so i'll never play it...

Minecraft is definately worth mentioning...

I always return to that game, and its only getting better... unfortunately the game lacks content but building is fun, and so is survival...

I am definitely more of an MMO player... Like I said before, the world feels dead without other players...

Morrowind and Skyrim are better than Oblivion.

Morrowind being the most hardcore of the 3, you know you can download a mod to make morrowind look like a brand new game, I'm talking about really really nice graphics.

I can't recall the name of it atm, but a friend of mine was recently playing it on steam and was sending me screen shot it looked amazing compared to the original.I'll have to ask him when he pops back on.

update:
Well it's the Morrowind Overhaul mod.

It is going to be soooooooo cool!!!!
I bet it'll give 'wow' some real competition.

As far as paying I'm sure you'll find free servers at pirate sites in a short time.

I don't think its possible to Unseat WoW honestly...

I know its old... like really old, and I've actually missed the last two expansions... but do you realize the game is 50gigs now?

No company has the funds or the means to unseat WoW as the Champ of MMOs... they literally make billions every year and growing... 7 million players...

It can't be done...
