It's Here!

As Pelosi indicated, You'll see what's in the bill once it's passed

Now, most of us know that we don't have the time, means, or insanity to get through reading that bill!

Therefore, I thought it might be a good idea to compile a thread to allow members to describe their own observations.

Purpose: to report personal, local or national accounts of changes they are seeing already with regards to Obamacare

Relevance: what is more important to you? health or wealth? are the two always in conflict? the more information we can get, the better educated we become

Suggestions: detail what you experience around you in health-care changes, are they related to Obamacare?, how do you know?, positive or negative.

I have some to share and will post soon...

Until then, let the discussions begin.

My mom just got notified that she may loose her job because her school is cutting all support staff so they don't have to pay for insurance. She has been working at this school for 15 years as a teachers assistant in the special ed department (mainly BD and LD kids) So now these kids who actually need extra help aren't going to get it....Great Job America!

Also if they want to stay on as employee's then they need to work less than 25 hours each pay period.

Is that the fault of Obamacare?

Or another story of the ridiculous under funding of the School system?

Its always Gonna with the GOP.
Obamas GONNA do this or that,
Obama's GONNA take yr guns.
Obama's GONNA eat white christian babies etc.
Never ever ever happens...

The GOP know damn well how people will
feel when even this watered down Bob Dole care,
comes to fruition.

It'll be very popular which is
why they pushed the start date beyond Obama's
2nd term. If it would have been in place already
the GOP would have never stood a chance.

Hi,

Sorry.

I'm not clear on how you have specifically identified how Obamacare has affected you, your community or your nation?

Perhaps you have an example you can share with us (versus cryptic generalities).

Thanks,

Good News For Employment!

Obamacare means hiring boom for 'navigators'

One thing always puzzled me about the state insurance exchanges that are supposed to sell insurance plans under Obamacare; what happens if you don't understand something or need other assistance? Will they have people that you can call and help just like, you know, a regular insurance company or something?

Fear not, America. The Obama administration is set to hire tens of thousands of "navigators" who will help you get all signed up for Obamacare:Tens of thousands of health care professionals, union workers and community activists hired as "navigators" to help Americans choose Obamacare options starting Oct. 1 could earn $20 an hour or more, according to new regulations issued Wednesday.

The 63-page rule covering navigators, drawn up by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, also said the government will provide free translators for those not fluent in English -- no matter what their native language is.

The rules also addressed conflict of interest and other potential issues that navigators could face as the public's first stop on the Obamacare trail.

It is still not clear how many navigators will be required. California, however, provides a hint. It wants 21,000.

That could be an expensive proposition. The proposed rules, now open for public comment, suggest an estimated pay of $20-$48 an hour.

The rules allow navigators to come from the ranks of unions, health providers and community action groups such as ACORN and Planned Parenthood. They are required to provide unbiased advice.
Where is the money to come from to pay for tens of thousands of workers making $20-$48 an hour? And anyone who believes the navigators will offer "ubiased" advice needs their head examined.

Finding out what's in Obamacare after we passed it sure can be an adventure.

I'm for quality healthcare, for all, as well; but does it have to be so complex and expensive?! $20-45/hr. just for these interpreters to try to make sense of the govts' plans--which they probably won't understand anywhoo..

I would give you a star if you could give us an external example, rather than the government source itself. Let's hope that this can all realistically come to fruition. I have no intention of fear-mongering. As you can see from my OP I am looking for facts -- positive or negative-- and I will share a positive story of mine forthcoming.

What I am seeing recently are more medicare denials -- especially to those with cancer...just search cancer clinics closed on your favourite search engine. This is not fair to people who have worked their tails off and have paid into the system for years, in my opinion, and is not in line with promises made with health care reform.

This is something else that is not because of Obamacare.

This payment crunch is an unintended consequence of the sequester, some health care experts say. Congress limited Medicare to a 2 percent reduction -- less than that faced by other government programs -- but coverage of cancer drugs falls into a tricky area because they must be administered by a doctor. That puts them into the Medicare Part B category, which falls under the sequester cut,

To a great extent, I agree with you.

It is a shame that they sequester cut important items versus less important ones, though.

On the other hand, I believe some of this was going on pre-Sequester in the reality and/or anticipation of rising costs.

Thanks for sharing your account. It is horrible that a long-term employee is treated this way, and even worse that those special needs students will be suffering. I am sorry for your mom

Sign of the times...fewer hours = no pay for health-care!

Our insurance premiums went down this year, based on the power of my husband's employer--which is on the list of CFR-affiliated corporations.
He was told that had been negotiating with the govt and the insurance company.

This is helping to somewhat offset the amount of taxes we owe in the upcoming week or so...

Let's hope things stay this way

Same exact thing is happening at the school my mother works at and at the company I am with. Cut backs on hours because full time is to be considered 35 hours due to Affordable Healthcare rules. I choose to pay out of pocket because it is cheaper for me. I sat down with an insurance agent that laid down a health insurance plan compliant with the Affordable Healthcare Act for my employer and it was WAY more than what I proved to them I pay now. Told them thanks, but no thanks. They can't possibly give me insurance cheaper than what I pay out of pocket atm.
