Cthulhu Found!

UBC researchers have discovered two new symbionts living in the gut of termites, and taken the unusual step of naming them after fictional monsters created by American horror author HP Lovecraft.

The single-cell protists, Cthulhu macrofasciculumque and Cthylla microfasciculumque, help termites digest wood. The researchers decided to name them after monstrous cosmic entities featured in Lovecraft’s Cthulhu Mythos as an ode to the sometimes strange and fascinating world of the microbe.

Well everyone, that's that. Cthulhu exists. What else were you expecting?

You know, we're going to feel bad we wasted an awesome name when a giant space squid attacks the ISS. We're just going to have to call it "space squid" because some jackoff biologists ruined the name by using it.

I thought they already found Cthulu black when the compared the origin of the Bloop to area noted in the Lovecraft story.

I am a little confused. Is this a new discovery ?
The reason I asked is I was watching a YT video of kent lovind.
He is a teacher/preacher/ and owns a adventure park In Florida.
So kent uses this very same microbe or whatever it is inside the termites stomach as a reason creation makes more sense then evolution.
The video is pretty old . So not sure how this could be new .

They should have named them Goa'ulds. Maybe the termites don't have glowing eyes.

That's funny, I always thought he would be bigger.

What I gathered was that they've known about these types of critters for a while, but this specific species of them is a new find.

They already named a spider after cthulhu though. It seems like they will name anything but squids after it.

Seems to fit the bill. I would like to see three or four of them take on a tardigrade.
