Abandoned Places: Beautiful Photographs

Hello fellow ATSers. I, as many of you are as well, am always keeping up with the latest news, breakthroughs and conspiracy theories, but I'm probably not alone when I say that all of that becomes quite stressful. I came across these amazing photographs (thanks to a couple amazing blogs). I have found an escape from the constant negativity and worry in these photos, even if just for a moment.

I realized both wonder and sadness in these photographs; they are beautiful, but, while lost in my thoughts when looking at them, I envisioned what it must had been like during their respective time periods. It's also amazing how nature takes back what once kept it at bay. It took a while to create this thread, but it was well worth the effort to share this with all of you. Enjoy :-)

What a collection

Great job their all beautiful, looks like that took some time to compose. SnF all day my favorite is the yacht underwater but i love them all. The theater in Gary is like 10 minutes from me but its to dangerous to go and check out and im interested in doing so. Not too much the structure but the fine neighborhood us taxpayers own and support very sad.

Figures that Gary, Indiana made the list twice.. that place probably has loads of abandoned treasures, as will Detroit soon enough

I did save and upload these, and it took a while, however they are not mine originally, I just wanted to share :-)

when i thought i seen it all.

this place looks nice for gameplay environment.

There's something about viewing photos of places long abandoned and left for nature to reclaim. You can almost see the people who occupied these places and the lives they lived. Like ghosts you can almost imagine the trains that traced those tracks, or the workers manning their machines. One of the most rewarding aspects to exploring abandoned places is the thought "if these walls could talk". S&F thank you for the enlightening post.

Ps did anyone catch the fairy? mid-right in the photo of St Etienne.

It's amazing to think that we are leaving our "tracks" now as we go about our lives, never really realizing that where we step may one day be but a memory... a photograph.

Chatillon Car Graveyard in Belgium reminds of the Walking Dead..on opening credits the cars all on the highway..imagine that's probably what it would look like after about 100 years..overgrown forest with cars lined up..what an odd site..

These photos are beautiful but photoshop enhances the mystery..I bet most places wouldn't get a second look in person. Some are so enhanced they don't even look real..like the abandoned mining house with sand everywhere, that looks like a painting..

Nice pictures...and btw, that is a HUGE statue of JESUS!!!

throughout the whole journey i kept thinking, why throw all the chairs and debris into the empty swimming pool, was it some kind of last protest as someone would have to pull them all out again.
now I really need to know the answer.

Is it just me or are there Giant Freak Bats living here! EEEEEEEKKKK! Abandon coal mine my arse! That is a NEST! I say burn it with fire! Lots and lots of FIRE!!!!!!
